I got a successful puncture, pin prick sized, that the gunk wouldn't plug. The tire was 2 rides old.

hope it wont stop you getting here today
i have found if the hole is small i am better off riding along to spin the gunk into the hole, or to stop with the hole at the bottom of the wheel so there is a puddle of goo on top of the hole
which make of goo are you using?
