As a general rule, in order to prevent abuses, local border traffic
permits should be issued only to those who have been lawfully resident
in a border area for at least one year. Bilateral Agreements concluded
between Member States and neighbouring third countries may provide for
a longer period of residence. In exceptional and duly justified cases,
such as those relating to minors, changes in marital status or
inheritance of land, those bilateral Agreements may also provide for a
shorter period of residence -

So anyone using them that's not a resident risks being penalised at the finish. I'll stick with one of the main roads.

changes in marital status
Whirlwind romance, marry local, win TCR.... ?

Not sure if this is still helpful or not as you seem to want to go futher south than Kosovo but I crossed into Macadonia from Kosovo last October without any issue on an EU passport. Crossed at Pustenik...

Coolio. What was Kosovo like? Any dramas? I think my southerly route is looking the better option but that's just a guess.

Moo! Why doesn't it play from where I said? 8m35s FuckerI was more concerned with border control and civil war. I've had all the shitty unmaintained road training I need riding in the Chilterns for 10 years.

Adrain went through kosovo, said it was nice plain sailing with a tailwind!
-

Personally I loved Kosovo; cheap, lovely people, zero hassle. Oh and like skinny said, I had a nice tail wind the whole way through.
It does have a developing world feel, in that things are still rough around the edges, but the main roads where good quality and I didn't see any hassle at either border crossing. Entering they welcomed me to their country and wished me a pleasant stay and leaving they were just curious about my journey (from Ireland). HTH and good luck to all! :)

things are still rough around the edges
So like anywhere in Greater London :)
Ok, cheers, I might route through Kosovo then if it saves me distance/climbing.

I'm pretty sure I had to get a visa for Turkey when I was last there on my Aus passport.
I'll probably travel on my Brit passport - should make EU stuff easier, no? #brexitLOL -
• #1716
you always need a visa for Turkey unless you have a Turkish passport. You can get it online though
-
• #1717
Looks like NZ citizens are a special case...no visa required. Assumed Australia was the same (ANZAC blah blah blah) but apparently not so.
-
• #1718
Kiwis are cool.
Can't blame them for not wanting Aussies in, bloody rabbly they are. -
• #1719
-
• #1720
Guess that's why the Brits have the same visa requirements as the Aussies.
The reason Kiwis don't need a visa is because they struggle so much to understand them it's easier to just let them be.

Bloody roast beefs, don't let them anywhere I say. Once they leave the EU, lock your borders. They can have their island.
-
• #1722
So long as I can still use my passport to go work in France, Germany or Netherlands you guys can lock the doors.
Obviously I'd still encourage any inbreeders and/or white van drivers to #voteremain

Stuff on facebook group about injections: rabies, tick-bourne encephalitis... (don't know how to copy the link)
Looks like I need to get that sorted out -
• #1724
I didn't last year.
Probs won't this year.I carry pepper spray to deal with dogs, never needed it yet.
-
• #1725
Sounds fab. More shit to sort out. Fuck this.
Yeah it's a dirt road. Good luck with it to them!
