Thinking about wireless headphones - over ear cans are large. why not incorporate a board with wi-fi, DAC/amp and small battery? Wireless and potentially uncompressed sound?

Isn't that what they've done?

That's on ear not over ear....

Not really my point, but does depend on how big your ears are.

My Sony MDR-EX650AP accidentally went trough a 1.5 hour cycle in my washing machine. 30 degrees. No damage whatsoever.

Not really, bt is heavily compressed. Haven't seen ones with built in WiFi

Apt-X seems to be the way most are going (unless you have an iphone) and now it's owned by Qualcomm I can see it being even more prevalent.
You can tell the difference between that and standard BT. I guess needing more than Apt-X would be the real audiophile end at which point they're using their own DAC, etc anyway.

Someone half inched my earphones from my desk on Monday.
They were Xiaomi Piston 3s, was very happy with them for my needs, especially given the price.Looking to replace with either another set of Xiamois, Soundmagic E10s or Sony MDR-EX650APT.
Which should I go for?

Soundmagic PL50s! :)

Not the e10s...

I really like these as my "disposable" headphones, MEE M6 Pro

Don't buy RHA unless you keep your receipt as they will need replaced within 3 years due to cables giving way. That said awesome headphones.

• #1094
What makes you say that?

They're crap. The PL50S really are good though, and pretty indestructible too. My old set lasted a couple of years and even went through the wash. I'd recommend investing in some Comply T100 tips if you get them though. They can be had for £30 on aliexpress :)

Cheap. Horrible sound. I returned a couple originally thinking it was a once off. I ended back on a Sony xplod because they were better.
-
• #1097
I like the comply T500s more. Really good sound isolation. Drives me nuts hearing other people's drivel when I don't want to.
-
• #1099
I'm a Muppet... Apparently the isolation could be 100 or 500...
Pick the isolation one.

Had 2 bad sets and one good of the e10s. Their qc must be rubbish as there's so much variation between copies (even the bad ones). The Sony brass-colour whatever they are called are better/more consistent, as @TurtleRecall says.
(Disclaimer - not tried pl50s as I was put off because the e10s were so variable)
Plus meant to reply to @Trunkie. Train fail. Need sleep.
Cheers
