not in the traditional sense, but it's gonna be mid 10s max days and raining cats'n'dogs for about three months ... Remarkable, given how dry overall Adelaide is.

That's what you need if you live that far from civilisation.
Still not as funny as my first Brevet Populaire which led me through Ugley and Nasty! -

Little encounter using the zebra crossing next to Henry Cavendish Primary in Balham as a ped last night.
As I approached, there was a lady already on the crossing, and a couple of stationary cars, so I went ahead and began to cross.
As I stepped out I was unaware of the chap on the MTB who had decided to cycle through the crossing behind the lady before she was all the way across - and who hadn't seen me either.
Looked up as he skidded to a halt about a metre from my right leg. Locked eyes with him and raised my eyebrows. Continued with my journey.
Hadn't intended to deal with it in such an accidentally alpha fashion, but hey, whatever works...

Melbourne, which is typically colder and wetter than Radelaide.

Over the year, yes, but in June/July/August Adelaide gets 20-30% more rain on average than Melbourne. Temp is maybe a degree above. I was surprised how drastic the wind/rainfall here gets. Think gum tree branches falling down and power lines blowing over.

Where are you getting your info from?
"Adelaide generally has mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. It is the driest of all the Australian capital cities. The average annual rainfall is 553 mm. June is the wettest month, averaging around 80 mm."

I can't find Adelaide 2015 so this is the whole of SA compared to Melbourne last year
2015 Melb
Wettest overall 1142.4 mm at Ferny Creek
Wettest day 55.0 mm at Bundoora (Latrobe University) on 11 Oct
Strongest wind gust 128 km/h at St Kilda Harbour - RMYS on 28 Feb2015 SA
Wettest overall 939.4 mm at Uraidla
Wettest day 156.0 mm at Gammon Ranges (Moolawatana) on 10 Jan
Strongest wind gust 135 km/h at Mount Crawford AWS on 5 MayI see what you mean Melbourne is wetter overall but Adelaide gets more rain in those three months. Melbourne is still colder in winter and generally and wetter generally.

Yeah, saw that arse the other day, just north of Blackfriars. Traffic was two abreast going each way of the superhighway, and he was squeezing down the middle at speed. Everyone (including two blokes at a bus stop) was watching with complete disdain. But when he popped a shitty half-wheelie down a speed bump, they cracked huge grins. This lightened the mood, and in turn made me smile and forget all about the selfish piss artist.

Bloke in the passenger seat clipped my handlebars opening his door as I was filtering past him. Just about managed to stay upright as I shouted out an exasperated "fucking heeeelllllllll".
He was very apologetic, pure luck that it only clipped the bar.
First time anything like that has happened to me and I was pretty shaken up, not sure if I was supposed to be pissed off or not but I wasn't really thinking straight. Remembered what a few on here said about taking a few moments to compose myself rather than jumping back on, which helped, so cheers.

Rain Poncho? Hamax do them for their child seats.
I was very hungover today and left late enough that I had to cane it all the way. OKR/NKR were quite clear, which was nice. The only annoyance was motorbikes pushing in to gaps obviously too small for them, but big enough for a bike, leaving me sat behind them waiting until traffic moved off, oh and the ones that filter to the front then stop between the first two vehicles, blocking me from entering the ASL.
