There's been some gold in this thread recently. Very tempted to ruin it by posting mine. What's the readers wives policy here? :-)

Readers wives: I'm currently back in the netherlands for a few weeks and needed a bike to get around town. So I built a beater/frankenbike with parts from the bike graveyard that is the basement of my former student house. Most of the junk bikes there are broken omafiets but I found a passable Gazelle opafiets/light-touring frame. It's a bit large for me but still rideable. Luckily I got a wheelset from a friend who had bought a bike with a spare wheelset and had no use for the second pair of wheels. I soon noticed that the original forks were slightly bent due to what was probably a head-on crash. Luckily I found a pair of old chromeforks in the parts bin. Photos are in reverse chronological order. Last one shows the bike how i found it in the basement.

Current state. For commuting as I'm giving my knees a rest from brakesless. Need to sort out the cables.

Hot Rat! Is it all MAX or just the forks? Looks to me like you could bring the rearwheel a bit closer to the st by shortening the chain...
-
• #14094
Cheers, I believe it's all max, very nice and comfy to ride. Yeah when I was riding fixed I had a bigger rear cog and it was nearly slammed. Now it's free wheel it's freed up aloy of space and I need to dig out my chain splitter tool

very rad, is it a bareknuckle?
-
• #14096
Yes it is 😊 Picked it up for £200 with Chris King headset and sugino 75 cranks. So well worth it.
Will dig out some more photos -

Bareknuckle one of my all time favourite frames - AFAIK it's not actually max but COM 12.5 by Dedacciai.
