  • Or you could programme them to do the same thing as the other other two. Personally, I'm just going to use a hacked SW-R600 climber's switch (got it already, never used the climbing buttons) connected up to some Cateye switch buttons.

  • I am planning on setting up my left hand shifter in my 1x setup to shift the rear der up and down so I can shift with either hand.

  • FD, RD, BB, battery, wire kit, cassette have arrived so far...

  • eTap might make good sense for a travel bike. There, I said it.

  • Continental travel well too.

    Obvious name is obvious.

  • Di2 TT pods are £135
Di2 climbing shifter pods are £55

If I only wanted cassette shifting (1x11), I only need two buttons so I could just use a single climbing pod, right? Spend the rest on midgets and coke? Ok, just coke? Ok, cola?

  • Yep. Hope so, anyway, that's what I'm doing, albeit with a hacked climbing switch modified to have flying leads to connect to other switches rather than using the standard switches.

  • Looking to retro fit my bike with Di2 but not sure on all the different options on the basic gear set from ribble

Will the internal battery fit in my Trek Domane?
Do I want the USB charger or not?
3 port or 5 port on the junction box?

  • I think I might just bite the bullet and get normal TT shifters.

It's the spendy way of filling the bar ends :)

It fits inside a Cervelo S2, so I'd be very surprised if it didn't fit in a Domane.
    Yes, you do.
3 port for a road bike, 5 port for a TT bike.

  • If I didn't already have the hacked climber's switch, I'd probably do the same thing. In fact, I suspect I will as and when I convert the P2 to Di2 (the climber's switch is going on the P5).

  • SHIM25> no longer valid :(

  • 5 port for a TT bike

Unless you only have shifters in the extensions. #pro

  • I'd definitely recommend the single button TT shifters. I get on well With mine.

You may not TT With neoprene gloves on though.......

  • TCR? Quite possibly.

  • My fingers are a bit shit. Cant actually build lego With my kids anymore, now they've moved to the small fiddly Blocks.

Sprint shifters are a fecking godsend in road races. No accidental front shifting. I have my reamost shifter paddles both working the rear mech. Which is real Nice when hunkered on the Hoods. But nothing beats having a totally separate button I can punch With a semi frozen lump of a finger.

  • Yeah, a 2-month old promo code is probably pushing it...

  • Did you build your Di2 for £454.91 in the end?
The individual ribble links are no longer valid.
The gearset in one order is £669

  • I think it was more than that. Ultegra Di2 flat mount hydro is £775 in my list. That might've been listed prices though and not after discounts.

The one you've linked to is external battery and doesn't included hydro shit though, right?

  • ST-R785 Hydraulic Disc Brake Di2 STI's - Pair +
RS805 Flat Mount -Bicycle Brakes and Pads £379.99
SM-RT99 Ice Tech FREEZA Centre Lock Disc Rotor - 160mm £37.49
    Total: £418.48

    Saint RT99 2013 Ice-Tech Centre-Lock Rotor £37.49

Shimano 11 Spd Ultegra 6800 Cassette £32.46 GBP
    Shimano Di2 Cableset £66.66 GBP
Shimano Di2 Internal Fit Battery 7.4V £62.49 GBP
    Total: £183.93

Shimano Dura Ace 9000 Bottom Bracket Cups £17.49 GBP
    Shimano Ultegra Di2 6870 11Spd Rear Gear £95.79 GBP
    Shimano Ultegra Di2 6870 11Spd Front Gear £104.16 GBP
    Total: £235.93

~£828 all up for most of the groupset I think. The DA BB is in my current bike - I'll be using Rotor cranks on this build so different BB.

  • I've decided this is the year I go electric. However my first choice of eTap is a no go, due to frame comparability issues. So, on to di2.

Basically, I have no clue what I need and am hoping that I can use your experience to help me out.

I currently run Ultegra 6700 10 speed with a Rotor P2Max. The frame is a Storck and is built to take external mechanical only.

So, I guess I'm stuck running an external di2 set up (battery, cables, etc)?

I also assume I just need a gear kit? Or am I better off buying full group and selling chain set?

Lastly, someone posted a fantastic guide that probably answers much of this, but I can't seem to find the link again. If anyone remembers, please let me know.

    Thanks, Tom

  • It'll be cheaper to just buy what you need - shifters, wiring kit, battery, deraillers.
    Plug it all in.
    Ride.

  • What about etap is incompatible with your frame out of interest?

  • That's a polite way of saying the Storck doesn't want the SRAM AIDS.

  • That's perfect justification for buying a new frame too, Tom!
