Doh. Yes well that's a better idea. Jesus my mind is slow.

Fuck you hour... 57:02.
Pb by 2:58, and I probably had those 2 seconds in me too. Lovely conditions, but it really is all about the course isn't it.
Also great to meet you @Sainsburys_Ed!

Good to finally meet you too!
Agonisingly close to a PB, 4 seconds off although I gave it everything in the last two miles so should have tried harder earlier!
Not sure whether my legs or power meter aren't working, as a million miles off my usual 25 power, suspect it's the power meter as it suggests I'm very slippery with a 55:06 of 243w...actually given the conditions today it's probably a bit of both.
Some old dude was very angry at me for running around the track the finish, he even stole my keys to make me talk to him at the end, he softened when he realised I was actually taking part in the event...

any suggestions for a helmet that doesn't stick up because of my shoulders, a quick strava stalk suggest wither my PM is massively under reading, either that or my flappy club skinsuit and velotoze that I hadn't taken enough care putting on or I'm as slippery as a wet fish.

Without actually testing, another helmet might not be faster.
Bell javelin though, to answer your q. -

Thanks for the photo link!
I don't know whether that little sticky up bit will be slowing you down at all, and obviously you know that helmet choice is very personal and can vary a lot, but if you want to try filling in that gap then the old Giro Advantages have a slightly more curved profile. It's not the newest design but I tested Selector/Advantage/Wasp/Javelin and tried the Bambino on with Xav, and the Advantage with taped vents came 2nd on me.
I still have my old one if you want to give it a try?
Also, that seems like an incredibly low power output for you no? (#stravastalking) I did 251w and I'm really struggling ATM.

I might have one of those brackets in my desk drawer. I'll have a look tomorrow.

I think my power meter is under reading, and as a result I'm going beyond threshold trying to get to the "right power" and then having to back off while I recover, I'm going to replace batteries, uninstall, reinstall and see when that gets me before I play about with my position.

My evidence of decent position > raw power:
October 2015 - 394w, 21:39, great conditions.
May 2016 - 366w, 21:23, howling wind and rain (Farnham CC on the H10/8 yesterday). I was still about 10w under threshold so looking forward to giving it full beans at the next one, think I need a bike fit next.

• #12986
Bladdy hell. Mind you, about 270w got me 21:40 a couple of weeks ago.

Thabks! I ordered one from highonbikes, but not sure if i trust their stock!
@onyerbike lose whatever excess weight you can. That will help. Because you can out out big watts.
Raw power + decent position = fast. W/CdA

• #12988
Almost 400W and you're only doing 21s? Time to upgrade your Stages...
-
• #12989
I just shaved my legs last night for the first time, that's got to be worth some grams..
W/kg has def gone up since last summer, but no idea how to improve W/CdA?

• #12990
Got a picture of you racing?

my tripsuit arrived this morning :/
looks nice, not tried on yet for size but based on sizing charts it should be comfortably tight!
have a slight issue that my next open isn't till the 100 on the 19th June, but might chuck an entry into the H25/17 on the 5th as the diary says i'm free that weekend...

Pm. Thanks!

Managed at 53:20 on H25/2 yesterday. Pretty pleased with position now (although there's another 10 watts I'm not getting down) so onto bike upgrades now! Front of my bike looks like the back of Medusa's head, massively need to sort the cabling. Might do a Skinny and drill the P2. Also disc (borrowed one for yesterday) and deeper front would help.
Meant to try and find Ed and Ewan to say hi but had to leg it to a Christening the minute I finished! Well done on the hour Ewan - smashed it!

Hmm... H25/17 or the Ditchling Devil 200k?
Both likely skipped or barely ridden with stonking hangovers due to party day before... hmm...
-
• #12996
great work, was this off similar power to the west London event a few weeks ago - if so then suggests my lack of power was the pilot rather than the equipment!
-
• #12997
About ten watts higher yesterday, but I've massively overhauled my position which has worked well. It definitely sounds like it's your power meter!!
-
• #12998
just tried my tripsuit on, all looks good, apart from the fact the number pocket has a slight opening through which it would provide a clear view into my butt crack - anyone else have this problem or should I send back?
-
• #12999
You mean the slot* to put the number in?
*slot in the suit, not your arse.
If you want to do things the hard way. An extra (or thicker) serrated washer between brake and frame would probably be simpler. You wouldn't have this problem if you rode fixed :-)
