does anyone know of any research into cat's and whether they actually care about their owners leaving them etc?

Me and Mrs EB are splitting after 10 years and it's going to tear me up even more leaving my two cats behind - but I guess I can cope a little if I know that they really don't give a f**k :/

Commiserations. I don't think, sadly, this is the right thread to seek reassurance that cats are emotionless tyrannical robots - we're almost all cat owners trying to convince ourselves (and each other) that this isn't the case in the face of evidence to the contrary!

Oi, speak for yourself!! Patch greets me at the door everyday when I get home from work, she also runs towards me fromt the garden whenever I stand by the garden door.
