I'm in Colchester at least once a month. I'd be happy to sling a load in the boot of my car and bring them back for folk. I'm not paying for them though and getting the money back off peeps, I can't be arsed with the agro.

and give you a hand shipping them back if you want - i'm in the process of starting a thread to try and save the 20% hipster tax

None that I have personally witnessed, but there were quite a few reported when they were first released, could have been a bad batch or something, or a design flaw, whatever it was its enough to make me think twice about buying a set of rims from a new company, when you can get something similar from a more established manufacturer around the same price.

So not a hell of a lot of rim failures then, and no personal experience of it happening.
Lets put the internet witch-hunt to bed then. Using your argument there would be very few companies to cause the established market to innovate or experiment - velocity only brought out the b43 in response to the h+Son's popularity....
Having said that though - i'm pro velocity - if only for the fact that they are the current market leaders in ridiculous deep aluminium rim technology - if we keep stoking this fire and switching allegience between the market leaders we could create the aluminium disk wheel - 700c flywheels ftw!

I have been riding H+son's (front and rear) for over 10 months now, and I have never had a problem with them, they haven't even been trued yet, and are still going strong. So I wouldn't take advice from someone that has only been riding since Christmas. Some people take this super strong/bombproof thing to serious, its a track bike FFS.

Just finished cycling 11 miles back to Wimbledon, and the rims is simply fine, more than fine as it felt a lots more solid than my stock Pista one (well the 28 spokes of the Pista stock wheel is probably responsible for the difference).
cheap System EX hubs, 36 spokes, machined H Plus Son;
for those who want one but worry about the ride - HTFU and get one.
Just scooped up a front Machined H+Son Rim, WHat Brake are you running Ed?
I need to find something pretty short reach, I have a 105 caliper but dont think it will fit.
Thanks!

Just a cheap Tiagra one, it does the job, don't need to spend a lots of money for a better one.

Had mine for 2 months now. Solid, stiff and fairly light. Wouldnt go jumping things though. But great if you're like me and like sprinting and going fast and having a stiff bike to do it with. savingfor the front one....budget :D

sorry to revive this thread. but today I build my first two wheels and I thought I would put my opinion just FTR.
the first one was a Velocity Aero, the second one was a h+son Formation Face. as you (may) know, both come non-machined only.
I think that FFs are better finished than Aeros (I have 3 more to lace yet). on the h+son rim the joint is invisible, but on the Velocity rims it is pretty visible and also have some anodization problems (I can see the aluminum). I also had to pop a spoke hole "tap" out on the Aero.
then the part where the rim tape sits (sorry, can't find the exact term) is perfect on the FFs, but has a kind of extrusion marks (they look like "rails") on the Aeros, which also has some spots lacking anodization here.
both trued well, but I had it harder with the Aero, maybe because it was my first one ever, or because the higher the profile the easier to true. I will know for sure when I build the next ones.
I mounted 28mm Duranos, and the FF was a bitch to put the tire where the valve of the tube (Schwalbe 15/60) stays because the rim is really narrow (had to put 16mm rim tape VS 18mm on the Aero).
I will see how they behave (well, actually the missus, the wheels were for her Steamroller).

These wheels are brilliant!!! I have been running a set for well over a year now, and other than having them trued when first getting them, (which you should have done with any new wheel set) I have had no problems with them at all. For the price point you can't beat these for a wheel that is to be used on a daily basis. I use these on my work bike, and the Portland Oregon streets are not at all forgiving on wheels. All in all I would highly recommend them, and buy a set again!
Buy lots, sell to forum at a wee bit over trade (£2 or so), undercut BLB, win the game.
