Nice late start for myself and Skinny in Hounslow Wheelers - though luckily he's off before me. Definitely worth at least a couple of minutes over an early start.
Also we're the youngest two on the start list and 20 years younger than the average age, heh.

You two like an older gentleman?

edit just noticed a "hardriders" 100 on the same day - can I enter both
No. You will get caught and banned under Regulation 11e. You'd be better off doping - the period of ineligibility is a bit longer, but the probability of getting caught is much less :-)
If your ECCA entry gets rejected before the closing date for the other event, you can then enter the other event.

I got into the H&DW 100. Must have been my optimistic estimation time
That's wrong, you should not have got a ride based on no previous form if people who had actually completed a 100 in the last three seasons got thrown out.

I don't make the rules or decisions.

Oh man wrong way, youre first, I'm tired.
-
• #12908
Not quite sure how it's been seeded tbh, I'm off on a 1.

Really looking forward to riding my first 100.
Any top tips? @umop3pisdn -

Well I can't say that I'm a huge expert. Aim for 85% of ftp for the first hour and build from there if you can I guess.
Nutrition is the tricky bit - how often, how much.
Have to say I do like 100s, at the end of the day it's only a 4/5 hour ride which most people are capable of.

Any top tips?
Drink as much as you can in the first 12 miles, because your bottles will fall off as soon as you go past Holybourne

Might start at 80%. I'll be pretty tired. Rather build and see how it goes, than blow.
That reminds me, I need to actually test my bladder inside skinsuit thing.@mdcc_tester I'm using a bladder down the chest. Like a colostomy bag.
I'll remember to torque up my seatpost a bit more. And maybe my handlebars. And maybe put a cushion on my armrests. -
• #12913
You really do need to test that! I need to order another 1ltr bottle too actually. And make sure it fits my bottle cage. And buy gels.

You have to ride yourself into a state were you to do an 200km audax a week after you would be an ideal 14-15mph moped for me. True story, happened last year with a rider I mostly saw only briefly on other events. He was well knackered still.

How would one go about qualifying for the national 10 or 25? This isn't a goal, I was just reading an article on Richard Bussell and it got me thinking. Couldn't seem to find any info on the tt forum or ctt website about the requirements/process.
-
• #12916
Yeah, I need to do a lot of things.
It has to work, as I've no other ideas.
Don't see why it wont?Oh those gloves fit, they streach a bit anyway. So that's 1 watt I've saved.
@fussballclub I need to find someone to be my moped!

You'd prbebrly need a time <20:45.
But this years 10 isn't so popular as a bit hilly.
And for the 25 you'd need maybe a 54?Neither event might fill. And I think you've good enough times to mkae a cut anyway.

• #12918
Thanks - when are they and how do you apply for a place? Just on the ctt website as usual?
-
• #12919
Dunno when off my head. Yeah on CTT as normal, labeled NATIONAL.
Shame the CTT website doesn't have a decent search function, or categories yet.
You'd think they could have built it a bit better... -
• #12920
Yeah I'm really struggling to get to grips with all the course codes etc let alone the website! Thanks for the help, will have a hunt.
-
• #12921
@xavierdisley made a spreadsheet with all the dates. It's good you can search it.
Here.
And thanks xav!

National 10 cutoff was only 20:40ish in 2014 when it was on the fast V718/1, a short 21 will most likely get you in this year. The 25 only just filled last year.

I think Saturday will be a float. Or as good as it gets on the e2.
Long range forecast.

Make sure you finish at the finish line. That's a handy tip.
I don't know what you mean...
