A free fountain of gin is pretty much the only thing that would have made this any better. Wicked day, thanks NLTCBMBC! see you next time.

You did an amazing job @roboto and the NLTCBMBC putting this on. It was brilliant from a racing and spectating point of view.
I think the qualifying and neutral lead lap in the main race was well thought out, made for fair and safe racing. The course was perfect for a track bike crit, fast all the way round, great surface and grip in the corners. Plus having grass rather than barriers lining the track makes it a lot less nervous. I really think these sort of venues are the places for track bike crits. Would love to see rounds at Cyclopark, Velopark ect
Big up all the riders! Fast, respectful racing from everyone. Strong rides from @Borek, @dimi3, @Thuekr and many more
Thanks all involved!

I've ridden a few fixed crits, all of which were pretty hairy/nervous but this course and the way it was ridden was really safe. Far fewer nervous moments than your average road bike crit I'd say

Everything was unbelieveable yesterday

The neutralised first three laps in qualifying and the rolling start in the final were a very clever piece of race direction. Avoided a lot of potential carnage.
The respect shown by everyone I raced with yesterday was something else. This is the start of something special for us fixed gear racers.
Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks guys. Shame I've gone back to work today as I could do with a week or so of sleep to recover!
I'll be getting some write ups of the day and make a nice looking official results thing when I get the chance. If people do have photos let me know and if I can use them to help promote future races that's even better.
I'm so glad that everyone enjoyed the day and the racing was fair and of a really high standard. It wouldn't have been the same without everyone contributing in their own way. Whether you raced and kept it rubber side down, spectated and made hilarious heckles at the riders or you volunteered and made sure everything ran smoothly.
Hopefully there will be more to come. A lot of time and effort went into the whole build up and weekend, so to finally get to the day and have it go without even a minor crash or fall was amazing. There was always that small element of doubt in the back of my mind that I'd fuck something up or there could be a catastrophic accident. Now I can sleep at night!

I have sunburn on my neck, where shall I send my letter of complaint?

Absolutely fantastic day out and I thought it was really well organised. Great that none of us on the corners needed to wave those flags!

Indeed - and sorry @Doctor_Cake for running out like that, I was sort of running late as it was. Thanks for filling in. Hope were you weren't there too long

Looking forward to more pics and some of that go pro footage. Such a high level of racing, well organised and sunny too. Well done Rob & Co.

Strava tells me the final ran out at 27.2 mph and (for me) a top speed of 42.9mph. That's faster than most road crits!

• #197
I felt like I was geared pretty much perfectly on 48/15, but then my Strava says I topped out at 35.
-
• #198
I was on 48/15 too and enjoyed overtaking people coming out of corners but I don't think it was big enough to sprint on.
-
• #199
I ran a similar gear in qualifying but felt under geared as the pace surged out of the corners. Rode a bigger gear in the final and it felt a bit heavy when I tried to break away, was glad to have it for the sprint though

I thought my first post should be something deep and meaningful, so I want to say a deep and meaningful thank you to everyone who organised everything that made Thundercrit great. Maybe the best day of the year / the millennium / ever / since I lost my virginity and caught crabs.
My second post will be about exciting topics like new foods I try for the first time (mushroom tortellini on Monday - 6/10).
Deeply,
Chris
Brilliant event @roboto. Many thanks to all who worked to put the event together and helped out on the day. #chapeau
