Was looking at your Strava and thinking that 211km in 21hrs was... well I didn't want to say anything. Then I zoomed in on the map and I realised it was ALL OFF ROAD. I've only been to Exmoor once but I remember it well... that must have been Brutal!

Good effort, shame about the knee though. Still riding singlespeed? Reckon you'll be healed up before the Highland Trail?

^ Photos on Instagram look pretty sweet, might have to try and get down that way in the future.

no, i'm on 1x10 normal range, no extender.
I've dropped from the HTR for this year, want my knee to recover properly. So 2017 is looking like my best hope for it.

Fair enough, seems sensible.
Not sure how I'm feeling about the Cairngorms Loop, only ridden on road so far this year haven't touched the singlespeed... :/ might go back to 1x10 to spare the legs a little.

What's up with your knee?
And good going! -

Knee, old injury flaring up. Stupid bike polo. Tore the ACL, never really got better. Recently it's started clicking when i walk up stairs or steep hike-a-bikes, and by 20 hours in on the ride the other day, it was agony. As soon as it started hurting on the bike too, I called it quits.

Nasty. Sorry. Nothing worse than an injury stopping the fun.

Supposed to be riding the Cairngorms Loop this weekend, weather has crapped out the last few days. Currently hovering around -6 ("feels like" -15...), 40-50mph winds and about 25cm of snow today...
Making a decision tomorrow if we're going up to ride :/
Friday:
Today :(

c) "Fuck that"
d) All of the above -

I'd be more worried that everything has got smaller by 25%. Shorter ride I guess.

Nasty. I've had 3 very near misses in 2 days. Hope they recover fast.
Also solid excuse, as that weather looks crap!
-
• #466
Agh, that sucks, glad it wasn't too serious

• #467
You have a bike to ride in this? I would a least start. Probably all gone now anyway.

Plan was to start and do the outer loop if weather crapped out, as alluded in previous post I'm now making tea all weekend :)
Down to 18 riders now and advice is to consider diverting the route to the outer loop from the organiser. Looks like a cold, wet weekend.
Will try again next year, have entered the Heartbeat 400 audax instead to make up for missing this.

Some good reading with your tea.

Gunther Desmedt organising 'Zeeuw van Vlaanderen' in October.
"Zeeland / Zeeuws-Vlaanderen has 13 cities, so 13 landmarks to visit... More details will follow."

Any idea of a distance?
-
• #472
No idea. Assume it'll be less than 5km to the nearest decent bar, is it worth going much further?
First "announcement" was last week, guess more will be posted in the next month or so...

Ride to Eurostar, argue about stupid bike transfer options, ooh does a folded Brompton count as luggage on Eurostar? I have a cunning plan...

Err.. no. I just thought about buying a Brompton so I could ride to/from Eurotar and have a bike to scoot around Belgium on.
Sounds ouchy
