Currently running a 27mm Conti GP tire in rear (steel framed bike) and the tire has close clearances: 2-3mm between the tire and chainstay/seatstay bridges and both chainstay sides.
I had some spare links but think they were thrown out..even moving the tire back a 1/2" won't do much..maybe add an extra mm.
I did a 30+ mile ride the other day and couldn't find any rub marks/hear rubbing sounds. The bike has an almost silent drivetrain so I would hear it.
The tire is almost new and I don't want to bin it...how safe is super tight clearances in the rear on a steel framed bike (since they do flex)?
I'm purchasing 25mm soon for front/rear but curious if this is even safe.
