  • I have a pair of 52/36 Praxis if you want them?

  • If they were 50/34 I'd snap them up. I can't push big gears, can only twiddle spinny ones.

  • Wait a minute are you saying it is possible to put spiderrings on the cheap si cranks that 105 caad12 has?

I was under the impression the 110 5 arm spider is part of the cranks

  • Introduced in 2016, these lightweight, FEA-optimized, solid forged crankarms bring Cannondale System Integrated performance to more pricepoints than ever before. Lighter than Ultegra or Force Carbon cranks, they share more than just a family resemblance with the HollowGram cranks. They share the same interchangeable spider interface and are fully BB30 and BB30A compatible. The Cannondale Si crankset represents a fantastic upgrade for any BB30 equipped bike.

    Question down below

  • What other seatpost collar/clamp can you use on a CAAD10 from 2011?
The outer diameter on the seat tube is 30.9 and to get a stock one means faffing about with ze germans..

  • Modern road bike's BB are high enough to ride with clip and strap pedals, but when paired with a clipless pedal system, you don't need it that high.

Even on my bike with 255mm BB to ground height, I've still not been able to scrap the pedals on the ground, however clip and strap are an annoyance, so BB height isn't a problem.

As for 650b, the biggest issues is the chainstay clearance, fork are usually OK as they taper out the nearer to the drop out, even seatstay are massive (look at the Synapse carbon disc clearance).

    The chainstay at its widest where the tyres is at, then get narrower before widen out again to the drop out (curvy chainstay), so you might struggle trying to get a bigger tyres to clear that section;

I have thought of this, but the Cannondale "SAVE" chainstay get in the way.

If you want to tackle the gravel more often, Challenge Strade Biancha is awesome for this, feel just as fast on the road and cope very well off road.

  • So, been sorting out some stuff on my recently acquired caad12. Internal cabling.. ffs.. Would've been hell a lot easier if I had the tools to remove the cranks/BB. I had to fish out the cables which took me at least close to 2 hours to get done..

Been playing with stems, slammed, spacers, etc... Just wondering, what do you call those bearing covers that lets you slam the stem? ~I have it slammed at the moment and it felt ok, just dont want to run the stem on top of the bearings without a cover. The cone spacer is huge and kinda want to get rid of it.

Was about to get some nice wide tyres but condor only have that vittoria graphene 28c one. Might get some online instead.

How bad is the internal routing? I find that more modern the frame, easier it is. Its really easy on my Emonda.

I'd check tyre clearance with brakes. Red brakes are notorious for not being able to accommodate larger tyres.

  • In the Uk are we due any CAAD12 framesets other than the current colourway?

  • I must admit I thought recabling my giant was going to be a nightmare, but it was way easier than I imagined.

  • those FSA rings are bullshit, go Praxis (or Cannondale)

  • If you like a stiff ring, go Rotor

  • Trek are piss easy, some like Boardman actually have internal sleeve for the brake cables.

Older Cannondale internal are awful (like the disc Synapse and CAAD10), but the newer CAAD12 is a little better.

2016 SuperSix Hi-mod is a step in the right direction (mostly external).

  • Seemslike you're right. Tried my neighbours 30c and it was rubbing on the brake metal thing.
Seems like 28c is the max red 22 brakes can take. Time to go back to shimano Di2 me thinks. As much as I love sram double tap, recabling is always a fucking shit of piss on it. Why would Sram make it so difficult to route cables back in...

Caad12 cabling, took me a couple of hours to get the internal done. I dont have the tools to get the bottom bracket off so I had to fish it out of this narrow hole.

  • CAAD12 frame received, I didn't think we'd ever get it.

  • When will Cannondale put strain meters in middle of Hollowgram arms as included power meters?

  • yes I am aware of the existence of stages. I want them double sided and integrated.

  • I am surprised @amey didn't use this as an excuse to post a picture of DA cranks
(rumoured to contain strain gauges for 2017)

  • I am back in this club ;)

I realised that my parts bin was getting out of control and had to buy a frame to justify.

  • welcome back. Looks great! weight?

  • this is interesting. Do I need a special tool to switch out the spider? my first bike I havent put together myself so the inner workings remain kind of a mystery (hydraulics, press in bbs)

  • Red brakes and Ultegra cranks?

    Edit: because, not DA
