  • emphasized text I had a Dave built custom crit 531c bike in flam blue with white lug lining from 1985. It was stolen in 1999. :(

If I ever get enough money I'm taking his course and building myself a replacement.

I searched all over the U.K. In 1985 and found his bikes to look the best built. I still feel I was correct.

I need a 61cm track or a 62-63 Road frame if anyone ever wants to sell one. 531c or better. :)

  • My D Y, early 1990s. recently re-sprayed by Dave himself, not yet been on maiden voyage yet...

  • P.S. Does anyone else out there use Suntour Command shifters? Wanted to try them as an alternative to ergo shifters/brifters etc. Plus an alternative to d/t shifters. Not 100% sure of positioning.

  • @narcotitlan Start another thread?!

    Your DY is nice!

  • Hiya
    I shouldn't ask but:

Is it sold yet? If not:
What's the TT length, and what tubeset?

    Ta

  • Thanks Skully, new thread started (link above)

  • Hi- It's not sold yet. I never got round to listing it, I've just not had the time....

TT is 57.5 cm and the tubing is 531C. It's a lovely bike- but I just don't ride it. Seems a waste to have it sitting in the garage unused.

Ideally looking to sell as a frameset, but having said that I do have all the parts as pictured above

  • Yeah it is, bought from an old boy who'd had it custom built, in great condition for age. I also have a 753 Condor that might be Yates built. Unfortunately It got written off by Porsche.

  • Fucking Porsche drivers...

  • all good in the end, his insurance paid out for two replacement bikes. The same car was internet famous briefly when it looked like this:

  • Haha^ glad you posted all that @chrismcr. Sorry/glad to say your Yates is a little bit long in the TT for me, so I won't be making you an offer on it.

I'd actually rather have one of his tourers.

  • No worries, can take more pics if anyone else is interested...

  • There is a new resident at Jangle Towers:

Bar tape, tyres and saddle have all been put on notice.

Have also recently purchased a Dave Yates built Condor that's currently in the frozen north, awaiting collection.

  • Those colours are ... something else!!

  • That bar tape isn't really lary enough.

  • Nice!
Saw a nice Dave Yates also yesterday, red, my size, attached to a red car driven by some dude in his late forties.
Never to him at red light but didn't start a chat or said anything nice about his bike, was on motorbike, would not have made sense ...

  • That colour scheme is brilliant. Didn't you also buy that TVM Gazelle? If so, they'll make a nice colourful pair!

  • Yep, I love the paint.

Also, yes, I bought the TVM Gazelle - however I have subsequently been persuaded to move it on to a forumonger who will put it to better use than I.

  • Fair Play! Would have been nice to see the two together though :)

  • My brand new Yates Audax bike, collected 4 weeks ago
