Surface is mostly a well made up track, probably not really suitable for an out and out road bike on a few of the stretches where the route no longer follows the original rail route.
Sign posting mostly very good. If you want to ride it, best to start at Shalford or Guildford rather than St Marthas which is definately not road bike friendly as the track is very sandy..

Not really confirmation but a check against whois shows that the domain is down as registered to "CAPITA PLC" and connecting using HTTPS to that hostname gets you presented with an SSL certificate issued to "Capita PLC" by "QuoVadis Limited". The DNS names for that website (with and without the www. prefix) resolve to IP addresses registered to Cable & Wireless who have named the netblock "CW-CAPITA-NET" with a description of "Capita Business Services Ltd". Finally, googling " verificationonline capita " pulls up all sorts of press releases about some new service Capita launched at the end of 2014. So, probably Capita but set up in a pretty shitty way which only makes me think it's even more likely to be Capita. They're not known as Crapita for nowt.

You'd need a pretty loose headset or very bendy bars for that to be true, surely?

Cheers! We got tourers so should be all good.

Is the water that is condensed in my tumble drier sufficiently distilled to use in a steam iron or steam cleaner? Thank you.

Hello, I'm after a security seat clamp. A cool, lightweight, state of the art, wank seat clamp. Not a cheapo.
Any ideas?

Pitlock has a new thing that might work, less bulky than their original offerings.

My water(?) is in a tank that slides out like a massive detergent drawer on a washing machine and it looks okay but you're probably right it might have too many new impurities in it.

If in doubt, simply take a pint or so in a clean pan and boil it off on the hob. Anything left in the pan will also be left in your iron/steam cleaner.

I'll give it a go and report back. This could be big.

PM me (and give me a bottle) and I can hook you up with some de-ionised water from a reverse osmosis filter. Perfect for irons/steam cleaners/looking cool on a shelf.
Edit: same for you @mdcc_tester if you want.

CHeers! It was great. We were on tourers, with 32C+ size tyres so were fine. Lovely ride.

in the next 2-5 years, is there going to be a glut of much photographed but barely ridden Cinelli/Aventon/Dosnoventa 2nd hand frames hit the market for cheaps?

Can anyone shed any light as to why my Eurosport Player on Android doesn't give me the option to Chromecast, when my wife's does? Same phone, just one gen older. She's on Android 5.1 while I'm on 6.0.
My other apps work fine with Chromecast.
Eurosport Player is bobbins.

Why is the internetz so fucking slow at our house these days?

The weather has been too good so no artificial drying required at this time. I'll keep you posted on my laundry habits and any subsequent distillation.

I just discovered we have a vaping thread.
Had a quick look.
Is that what the mudguards/dynamo hubs/etc threads look like to people that don't ride?

Does anyone know how to swap the axles on the Halo Vapour wheel? (hubs' SD6F).
It look like I should be able to pull out the quick release cap and swap it for the thru-axles a la Hope, but I couldn't pull it out.
Edit - careful pulling from a Vice work, almost impossible to remove without damaging it.

Does anyone have this tool I could borrow (in London)?

I'd like some digital calipers for measuring disc brake pad wear. Any suggestions?
-
• #76225
Use your eyes dude, it's not necessary.
Disc calipers auto adjust for wear anyway, if the pads look quite thin, like less than half the thickness of the plate, replace them.
Has anyone ridden the Downs Link from from St Martha's Hill to Shoreham-by-Sea?
