Hardest bit is the back box, you can swap out the plates for something more poncy yourself. Easy enough install, you can get a basic socket tester for under a fiver to make sure you do it right.

I'd definitely swap those for switched ones. You can pay slightly more for ones which isolate live and neutral (as opposed to just live). About £1 odd in B&Q.

Builder has put some of these plug sockets in - why (I'm guessing they're cheaper)? And are they safe/conform to regs?
