Cheers, definitely happy with a PB but as Skinny says there were some fast times so I'm disappointed I couldn't have made the most of the combination of fast course and good weather. A normally close rival beat me by 30s today so further evidence that I was below par. Previously the fastest 10courses I've ridden have either been the H10/181 (Witney) or the H10/17(r) (Southmoor) neither of which compare to Tring.
Yup, actual vom on the course... all over my legs, frame and disc. I'm not sure it's due to eating too much before, I had 2 slices of toast and an espresso from 0530-0600, 500ml caffeine energy drink from 0700-0730, then a gel on the start line at 0830. It's not the first time it's happened, and I'm still struggling to work out the cause but I think it's related to early morning starts. I had serious tummy problems during IM Wales in September that effectively ruined the race. Evening TTs are almost always fine.
Yes! I was wearing my forum cap at sign on. Great ride to do a 20:32 on your first 10. Very impressive!

Those Maguras are nice but pricey! Will keep a look out on the tt forum thanks.

Wake up earlier. Lose one or both of the pieces of toast.

• #12731
What bike do you ride? I have an Omega SV version sitting around still.
There's also an RT6 version of the Magura that's cheaper. I think there's some Tekro calipers that are cheap and decent. You're probably better off seeing @xavierdisley about your position before buying parts unless you can afford both.

I've got one of those old red and black P2s so don't think the Omega SV would fit but that's a very kind thought, thanks. Yeah trip to see Xavier would be ace, will have a look at his website and do the maths. Multiple upgrades plus aero testing session probably not affordable!

Oi! I'm front of the queue for 2nd hand standard mount Omegas. I clearly need them more than you do too! :-)
Red and black P2? In that case I think I spotted you too. Parked in the corner of the carpark?

I've got a birthday party tonight - here's to a hungover 50.
-
• #12735
Ha! Sorry man had no idea there was a queue! Total breach of etiquette!! Yeah I was over in the corner - a lurker in all environments!

nice but pricey
If you're on a tight budget, consider Campag Monoplaner brakes, Xav rates them for aeros and they regularly come up for sale at reasonable prices.

If you're on a budget, I've got a Dura Ace AX you can have for the price of postage (£3.95).
Still a decently aero brake, even now.

Okay so looking at the data it WAS a big power PB (at least for this year) even though I tanked but I was still down on the record. Need to find some weather data - it must've been fucking windy compared to my 25 and 30mi races on that course.

SErious ride by Rhys Howells. 18:52.
His trip to @xavierdisley has paid off! Plus his mega watts. -
• #12742
And your ride wasn't serious?
Sheesh.
-
• #12743
I've been ill for the past few days with a head cold.
But yeah it was good considering! ;) -

Fuck wind

@cjr and I both knocked minutes off our PBs so pretty happy. We went as far as hiring a van, turbos and everything in the back. Felt well pro, unlike our usual aimless bimble-around-the-lanes warm up. It did occur to me that the whole shebang was a lot like camping. People getting in early to set up their little camp in the best spot.

• #12746
Likewise, and good ride! Well done.

• #12747
Fucking fuck. 1:00:03 in this mornings 25.
Still, it's a PB by 5mins :)
-
• #12748
I know the feeling- I did a 1:00:25 or something last year where the 30 seconds I needed was because of getting stuck behind lorries going uphill.
Still, it shows that the ability is there. Congrats on the PB.

We do indeed.
See you on Tuesday.

Thanks for you and your team's exemplary marshalling @Peter_Carter
Just exhibit some of the self-control I'm famous for and I'm sure you'll be fine...
