I'm not sure what the difference is for two shimano's. However, both the goat link and the RAD cage act by moving the top jokey wheel back in relation to pivot point of the mech to allow for getting the chain up onto the massive ring. This is why an extra long b screw bodge can achieve a simialar thing.
Dont be fooled by the long cage. This is still not designed for big range cassettes. It is long to take up the chain slack in triple setups.
As 1x setups with massive range cassettes are becoming the norm, shimano will likely build this compatibility into their components going forward. It is essential for 11 speed as it was pretty much designed for 1x setups for enduro/xc.
