  • Nice but functional ?

  • Mudguards? ;)

  • Yes indeed and don't forget that little nifty bag ander the seat.

  • Spotted one of these on the commute this morning. Don't know much about them but looked like it'd belong here, huge clearances and rack mounts on the rear

  • It's the older Kona Rove. I used the fork of this bike for my Surly CC.
Luckely the new Rove has the non tapered/normal/1.1/8e headtube again. This 1.5 headtube with the skinny fork is butt ugly in my opnion.

  • Is that there a kona koa? I haz one of those in a shed in Cumbria

  • Off touring tomorrow. Hope I don't died.

  • where are you headed?

  • Sunny Wales

  • You mught need a bit more stuff...

  • Cool. What are you gonna bring with you on your bike?

  • That's tonight's job... Two panniers, rollmat and sleeping bag, and some split of tent, tools and cooking stuff between us. "Fully loaded" pic tomorrow morning

  • "Fully loaded" pic tomorrow morning

    Looking forward to it!

  • Great work! Looking forward to the loaded pic.

  • Now the question is... do I strap the wald directly to the rack again, or use the mounting struts and go for a triple layer approach?

  • Are those the short Berthouds? I made that mistake on mounting mine first, I think the hole is meant for a druama bolt under the fork rather than the front rack, as the bottom ends up very high that way. You need the long version (annoyingly don't seem to be available in that size) to cover the bag and give your feet decent coverage. Of course none of this matters at all, have a great trip.

  • Nah, they're definitely the long 50mm. I had to drill the rack mount, the daruma is in place as normal. The issue is they're really too narrow and too tight a curve, and I haven't managed to fit a mudflaps so I think I'll just duct tape some inner tube to the end

  • The functional thread. Where men hunger for the graphic no holds barred display of another man's full load. And sometimes his partner's too. Sordid!

  • I see. Apparently you can change the diameter of metal guards by squeezing or spreading them width wise. I think to make a bigger curve you'd need to make them narrower which doesn't really help you.

  • cannot find any forks that fit my retro mtb tourer that have braze ons + 410 a-c. soooo I am going to take an old pair of P2s i have and get some braze ons brazed on. may end up having a longer steerer put on too, £80 from vaz but am going to ring round a few other london builders first. is there any other options before I commit to this?

all the surly, thorn etc have 380 a-c and since the tt is already horizontal I would end up with the first FBNPNALP

  • Here's the moment you've all been waiting for, brace yourselves

More here, including saucy partner action

  • Yup, I even foolishly thought it was the other way round and started spreading the guard a bit, discovering to my chagrin I'd made it fit even worse

  • @Brameses There's a hobbyist on retrobike who quoted me about £150-£200 from memory, for a really nice looking custom fork with Panceti crown. He had another he's already made already for less, but I think that's gone now. His forum name was biglev.

I'm casually looking for similar, hard to come by. There was a set of old thorn forks on ebay recently with lowrider bosses, steerer was too short for me though.

  • Yesss. Have fun.

  • Daammmmnnn looking good @TomvanHalen
