Just did a test ride for the dynamo lights and the Conti GP4000SII Reflex surprised me with great reflective sidewalls

They are going to disintegrate within 100 miles surely? They do ride very nicely though.

I just took a new set of masters off my roadie as I need to commute on it next week. The Schwalbe ones that replaced them feel positively dull. Fine, but dull.

My condolences.

Looking for some advice on 26" tyres (2") for touring on mostly paved roads, but ideally I'd also want some profile for a bit of gravel or some light off-roading, maybe? Something like this? But preferably entirely black.

Though not these Compasses (a but pricey for my taste). Any advice?

I know this is stupid, but I don't really like the look. Especially the reflective strip and the branding.

But talking about Schwalbe; what about the Marathons, are they any good? Good price for sure.

Marathon Mondial perhaps? Look good for all terrain if you don't mind the weight.

These look really good. I like the smaller amount of profile in the middle, should be ideal for the majority of touring I'll do on paved roads. The thing is I only have 3 mm or so room for larger tyres, with the current ones being 2.1", so that might be risky.

The reflective stuff on my big apples just pulled off in one neat strip. Leaves behind a feint grey line where the glue was. 5 mins with a sharpie would sort that, although just losing the reflection was good enough for me.

Ritchey Speedmax Beta are lightweight and the centre section is pretty fast rolling. Come in 2.0 and 2.2

gonna be using them in the Netherlands mostly and the roads are great, they feel sort of like tubulars, in the sense that they're really supple etc, liking how they feel a lot

25mm Veloflexes are by far the nicest 'riding' clinchers I've ridden. Durability has been better than the Vittoria equivalent with no cuts after 250miles on a mix of city and country roads.

Bitch to fit and they're still dead lumpy so will try again tomorrow when they've stretched a bit on the rim. 23c tubes in 25c tyres hasn't been a problem before, but I can only think that that's what is causing the lumpiness.
They feel a lot like veloflexe in your hands but the tread bit is unlike anything I've felt before. Really stiff, particularly compared to the sidewalls. I haven't taken them for a proper spin yet but they do seem to grip the road, almost 'sticky'. How much of this psychological I don't know.

Size wise, on 25mm rims they run shorter than Schwalbe ones. Loads of clearance at the rear brake, I probably could have fit a 28. I'll see how they stretch though.

Much like @mrJL I'm very happy with my Vittoria Open Corsa G+.

Went for my first ride on them last night and they felt great. Time will tell how well they actually resist punctures etc, and I've not yet experienced them on anything other than dry roads, but so far so good.

Anyone tried the new G+ Rubinos yet? Particularly interested in the 'Control' versions, given the performance in the wet was my only slight concern with the originals..

Friends in Holland have often complained that the roads are great but also paved in "diamonds". Since Holland is generally pretty flat it seems, despite rain, that the glass shards stay on the road and just get pounded into a splinters instead of washed away. As in Germany beer bottles have much lower deposits (10 cents) than plastic (25 cents).

Nah I love the road and cycle lanes in Holland man. Never had a problem with them, and apart from in Amsterdam pot holes feel like a distant memory. The roads are smooth, not noticed any problems with punctures, this time though I'm on less resistant tyres so I guess we will see how it pans out.
