As I was washing up the breakfast things this morning, there was a massive bang as Jack came through the cat flap at full tilt. I thought he'd been chased by the large black cat who lives 2 doors down, but looked out the window to see a fox stood there. I presume Jack got a bit too close to the den (which had 5 cubs in last week) for mother fox's liking.
Fair play to Jack though, he was straight back outside once she'd gone over the fence.

My cats have a weird sort of relationship with the fox. They occasionally chase it off, but most of the time both parties just sit in the sunshine keeping one eye open.

Whilst in the belle France, a cat started visiting that looked really unkempt, fur didn't look clean and shiney and had a leaky infected looking eye. So whet to get a humane trap from the local and catch it. Then get the cat treated. Didn't manage to catch that particular cat but managed to catch a couple of the other visitors who snug in to eat the food that was in the cage and then attack me when I went to free them.
Keep thinking about the cat and the way it looked, the eye looked like it had been seriously damaged. Poor thing must be in pain.

so. i went on holiday and when i came back, her fur was a mess (the bottom coat was so filled up, it was impossible to comb it out). i made an appointment at a place where they deal with cat furs. also for cat shows etc. because of the density of her fur, even on her belly, they thought it might be best to shave her, for her own good. took an hour and a half.

We used to have this problem with a long haired British blue we had, dad had to shave her every year.

So Patch is using the litter tray again. She hasn't used it in over 18 months - I have it there just in case she needs it for whatever reason but she never used it until the last couple of weeks she has started using it again, not every time she needs to go I dont think, and it's certainly not during the night when I lock her in. Any idea why? Is she complaining something? Nothing has changed really...

My guess would be something outside is freaking her out a bit. I'm guessing she doesn't use your garden for her pees and poos? Could be there's a new cat in the territory, or a fox or something.

Maybe a tiger.

I have no idea where she does her business outside. As for new cats, as far as I can see, still the same black cat forever trying to regain his gaff (he was a regular before Patch) and a tabby forever trying to make friends with Patch.
What I don't get is she only uses tray to wee so surly she is still going outside?
She walked in the tray this morning then decided she wants to go outside...
She has also been a lot more vocal lately and very very clingy. But I put it down to the fact that I was away for a couple of weeks, but then I have been back for almost 2 weeks now...

Our cat was suddenly weeing in our wardrobes. We took her to the vet and she had a uti. Soon cleared with antibiotics and the weeing inside stopped.

I was thinking of giving the vet a call tomorrow, she has been meowing a lot towards me when she doesnt really want anything like food or attention, just meow...

We've just got a new cleaner who complained on her first day that the cat was hissing at her, following her around the flat. I was a little skeptical that it was that bad but agreed to work from home today to smooth things out - if Pip saw me chilled at her presence then hopefully he'd realise that she wasn't an intruder...
NOPE.
Hissing, following her, scratching the floor. I've had to lock him in a bedroom while she's here. Not sure what to do about that. He's normally fine with new people. I guess she's the one who comes in and takes away all his scent and replaces it with lemony-freshness, which is great in my opinion but probably a real pain in the arse for a cat. And possibly even a territorial attack. Anyone else had a similar problem?

When Mrs Sparky moved in it became the easiest option to maintain domestic peace. I wasn't keen at first but it works. Apart from the cat trying to eat her.

Reckon I'd be ok to schedule her to come in the morning and lock Pip in a room? I could ask her to open the door and run as she leaves.
We use these had them about 4 years still going strong
