Building up a Perkins fixie for commuting, need to cut the steerer tube and get some compact bars. Currently rocking 99p clearance pedals from Halfords!

sorry if this is the wrong thread for the question; currently building up a new ride and had my eyes on the obvious SRAM Omnium crankset, mainly because it seems to be 170ish+ everywhere except here:
seller is called "superbicycleshop uk" but it's getting shipped from taiwan, so i just thought i'd check on here see if anyone has used them before? they've got pretty high ratings and everything but i'm a bit paranoid.

it's getting shipped from taiwan
Bear in mind that you're likely to be charged 20% VAT + ~5% duty + a customs handling fee, so that £145 is likely to become about £190
They are just over €170 (~£145 including shipping and currency conversion) at Bike24, and you won't have to pay any more tax if you buy before the referendum :-)

I am very fond of the original Vitus bikes (not the revived CRC brand)
ZX1 are rare-ish.
Not as much as ZX2 though.
Here is one for sale in France if you want to complete your collection:

Thanks! Hadn't seen that before but it isn't much of a looker. Must be from just before the original brand folded I guess?

Cimer, it's 60cm ctc but the head tube is huuuge.
Ride smooth, just need another seat post and smaller chainring (I'm waiting a 49 SG75)

4700 does look very nice for the money. Wish they had a silver version though rather than just the grey.
Just need some yellow electric tape to finish off the bar wrap and this should be about done.

summer build!
first steel frame and it rides well, but extra heft is noticeable coming from dolan PC + full crabon fork on hills. Nothing particularly bling or exciting about it really, but hopefully a solid summer rattlecan rat!

started rebuilding my pesenti. migrating from shimano 105 to campag (headset needs to be replaced). waiting on a controltech seatpost and procraft compacts.
i'd like to thank @kevincx3 for the cranks and @JWestland for the tip on the stem - i think they really look good on this frame.

Love your choice of components, well matched.

What he said ^
I've just ordered a 90mm and 110mm of that stem, cheers for the reminder! -

Very nice, it's gonna look classy.

Is the going rate for custom fork around £120-£180?
And does it really require a frame builder, or could one just get a guy with some experience in welding ect. to do it for you (much like replacing track ends)? -
• #107546
ah yes i'd forgotten about all of that. rats.
But the good news is they are the same price from Germany, and you don't have to deal with forrins.
