Don't get me wrong man, if it works for you then that's aces.
It's just you're doing it wrong and all the real fixieskidders are laughing at you.
Also if your average speed fixed is the same as gears you're doing gears wrong.
On that commute (OKR/NKR/embankment) fixed is about the same. On my longer commute with hills I use gears.
I think that on a relatively flat route fixed would be just as fast as gears if you're not geared to spin out at 15mph.
