the knock off of the Bont XXX lite cages, like 10g and they cold a rapha bottle very well indeed.

• #4128
yeah ordered some of those yesterday

60mm is a bit much for me.. but keep me updated if you see any good non-brake track ones
-
• #4131
a bit much? i thought you were cool man
-
• #4132
Once you get into >50mm wide U rims the rims are so structurally stiff themselves the contribution of spoke count to the stiffness of the wheel as a system is significantly reduced.

My genuine Mandible snapped during Roubaix cyclo so have also been looking into a cheap replacement. Any good Madible clones that are ok?
Don't really like the look of the Bonts.
Also wonder if the Lightweight clones grip a podium ok enough and won't eject it on cobbles. -

There are these (not aliexpress so a step up in price, but I think there is a warranty!)

£420 + import fees... bit too spendy for me. look ideal though

Not seen these forks before. Flatmount carbon disc forks. Looks like they've got the dropouts right too.

Can a Selle SMP expert shed a light on this saddle?
Less cut-out, alloy rails, but it seems to have the shape.
-
• #4138
Not an expert by any means, but it looks like it doesn't have as much of a 'scoop' or cut-away which are two things key to the design. If you're looking to experiment with an SMP, I don't know why you wouldn't just go for the full-on clones at the same price.

I have a ali express SMP. It looks loads better than that. Id keep looking.

took a punt on some chinese POC shades (I break and lose so many cycling glasses I don't see much point in buying some full rrp). seem pretty good for £20. @Smallfurry bought the same and is going to check the UV qualities in his lab

Please report back, I need new glasses, would love to know what the UV quality is like. Or infact if you can fit legit POC lenses in? I've often wondered about getting fake oakleys' and putting real lenses in.
-
• #4142
When fake Oakleys first became a thing, I remember people on STW saying that it was actually very hard to make polycarbonate lenses that didn't filter out UV - any truth in that?
-
• #4144
yes - its inherent in the material, providing they are using polycarbonate (which they are likely to do as its cheap)
The main differences are likely to be in the optical quality - ie distortion/flare etc.
-
• #4145
Have aliexpress radar EVs, official lenses fit.
-
• #4146
The problem with fake lenses is the optics are shit, depth feels different around the lense and they glare loads in bright sunlight, actually making it harder to see in the sun.
-
• #4147
Mind me asking for a link to the seller?
-
• #4148
That's right, poly is inherently uv filtering, I got all excited about this in another thread recently.

It was this store: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1927165
But I don't see them listed any more, they were up as something like "2016 New RD EV Pitch Polarized Cycling Glasses 5 Lens".This video (it's in Russian, but about the 15 min mark) suggests official lenses fit in fake jawbreaker frames too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHFeCtyzsww
Edit: or in English on the video on here http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/they-re-just-bits-of-plastic-why-cyclists-buy-fake-oakleys/019427
