If I have a carbon disc fork with no drilling, what are my mounting options for a front guard?

I haven't bought the fork yet so if there's a particular model I should be looking at...

Does it have a hole at the bottom of the steerer? I've used a Velox bar-end plug on one of my bikes, get a longer bolt and drill a hole through the mudguard if there isn't one.

I'm picking up a Day One which comes with 35mm tyres tomorrow. Will the 35mm wide SKS longboards fit over these or would I be better with the 45mm version, assuming they'll fit in the frame.

No first-hand experience, but my rule of thumb* is "tyre width + 10mm".

Guards the same width as your tyres isn't going to leave any clearance.

*Something I read on the internet.

My rule of thumb, which is similar to yours, is as wide as will fit in the frame, but clearly you need to have a wider guard to give clearance.

Sure, the wider the better: I should have qualified my ROT as being the minimum required.

I'm guessing 45mm should be what I need then but maybe better if there's a bit more?

Looks like 45s will fit on older models of the day one so fingers crossed they've not slimmed things down at all on the 2016 model.

Yeah you can, steel mudguard are a touch thinner and extremely stiff, I run 42mm on a 50mm mudguard (the Oak) and it work flawlessly.

If you're happy tweaking it carefully and measuring it, go on.

I've just chucked my SKS chromoplastics on for now. Mounting as a bit of a farce with the pannier rack getting in the way of the rear stays so happy to be bodging with old guards, once I figure out a better solution I'll replace.

Wondering though, on a frame with track endsm re metal guards going to be stiffer than plastic and therefor make wheel removal more of a pain? I imagine they'll be stiffer...

I normally find I have to unbolt the mudguard stays to get the wheel out, unless I leave a huge unsightly gap. Certainly better than I clipping the mudguard from the stays, I can just bolt the stays back to the frame.

I have 35mm longboards on my Equilibrium and 45mm Longboards on my Pompino.

28s don't fit under the 35mm and 32s are snug under the 45mm so you definitely need the 45mm

I tried to put some GB 40mm guards on a Condor Fratello yesterday and there is no way they fit. There is literally 6mm between the mudguard and front tire and the steel fork doesn't allow the use of a draw bolt so the 6mm has to cope with the guard and the l bracket bolt head.

Why the hell would Condor make a winter bike with such dumb clearances?
