cheaper, lighter, better designed and more readily available everywhere.
Again, I am talking about the whole system. Frame, fork design. Wheels. Hubs.
This has been the slowest I've seen a tech trying to move around because there are lots of parties involved. If everyone wants it then everyone needs to be on the same page.

What form do you suggest they take? There's absolutely nothing wrong with them in their current form and the safety concerns are easily addressed by making disc covers mandatory.
Current form is without covers. Do covers make wheel swaps more difficult ?
Wait until a rider wins a stage of a race due to being able to descend faster in the wet because he has disc brakes, then you'll see more pros making the choice.
I always thought the limiting factor on descending was tyres and getting the line right rather than brakes ?

Betancur has won a race! The opening stage of the Castilla y Leon.
One for @I_am_Hingis to enjoy.

Some rather bonkers stats on Sagan's PCS points before he was 26 in comparison to other greats. from http://www.procyclingstats.com/articles/peter-sagan-compared-to-other-top-riders-at-same-age

Kinda, with mechanical rims brakes, the limitation is the brakes, whether with disc brakes, the limitation now lie in the tyres.
The pro however are a little different to us mere mortal whom excel at descending in the wet to the point of barely using brake, or the appearance of that.

Looks like the lead singer from Keane.
He was in the select bunch that finished behind Valverde on stage 2 also.

Props to Felline from Trek who stuck his hand into his spokes in the roll out and broke his nose

Holy shit! The UCI need to suspend spokes being used on race bike.
What do you think needs to happen to get them 'there'? Honest question :)
