  • I'm in a converted house, upstairs flat and downstairs flat. I own the upstairs flat. Myself and downstairs each own a share of the freehold and then individually have a lease for our respective flats.

Looking at a loft conversion. Obviously I will need the agreement of the other freeholder to go ahead with it but I'm trying to confirm if I own the loft. From these lease extracts I reckon I do, what do others think?

Also, I noticed I only have about 70 years left on the lease. Downstairs will be the same. I assume extending it is relatively straightforward given that both leaseholders are also the only freeholders. Is it worth looking at this now, will it potentially affect remortgaging, or just when I come to sell? Any idea how much it would cost?

    Cheers
