I've stressed over this before. Probably bored you guys With it before too. Sorry.
But I'm building a 26" Commencal Meta SL for 'everything' use. I have a DT Swiss 313 rear shock, which I was considering running With a single Remote together With a DT swiss XMM twin shot fork. Basically you get lockout - stiff - open Control for both ends With one Remote. The fork is like 60% off at the moment.
The issue is that I've had to Mount the shock without bushings as I have 10mm bolts and the shock has 10mm eyelets (roughly). I'm not happy about this.
Options:
Buy DT fork, buy Remote, hope everything is OK (There is a bearing of sorts in the shock eyelets)
Sell shock (its unused), buy X-fusion Slant fork, and x-fusion shock. This'll be more hassle but ultimatly cheaper. The fork is 160g heavier. But I wont have cables and Remotes.
The first option is by far the best bang for buck. Plus I can Lock stuff out on the fly, which could be great for a 'everything' bike. But I'm a simplistic soul, and frankly even I think the current shock set up is Dodge.
