Cheers man! Really helpfull stuff from that thread "How to fuck up a good frame. The manual." hah - yeah I may have to reconsider. My frame is definitely not a cromovelato and my intuition is telling me to leave it alone and deal with it when I have money and time to do a full on restorium maximum. thanks to all the other users who replied also.

Wheels are gone, ideas for the next ?

Had this frameset sat around 28 months but today, finally, I took it out on the road to see how it goes. Frustratingly that 50/17 combination and the stay length means there's not quite enough space to lose a link and move that rear wheel forwards a bit.

Wow, beautiful!
Half link maybe? (Not the whole chain, just one link) I know it's not "pure", but it works.. -

The clearance of the rear wheel is about the same as the front (with the downtube), I think it is fine personally. You could also increase the size of the cog/chainring by maybe one or two teeth (depending on if you like the new ratio).
Great looking bike though. Awesome wheels.

What is your rims and spokes tychom ?
-
• #107263
aliexpress carbon rims 23mm wide 38mm high, the spokes are cx-ray and the hubs dt swiss

I could switch for an 18 tooth, or a non-dura ace 49 tooth (black sg75). Changing the cog would complicate things as the aim is to switch around this wheelset with another bike setup for a 17t cog.

Are 24 spoke wheels strong enough for riding fixed? Genuine question. And I love the build.

I would imagine so, given that I got about 5 seasons of TTs plus a fair amount of track messing about out of a pair of 20 spoke Ellipses, and they were still straight and tight when I sold them.

umadbro
