The tip given to me was don't buy birth year watches in years of significant birthdays as prices jump up. Not sure how true this is.

Definitely true.

The issue is whether a notable birth year is soon. In which case it's unlikely there will be many in the market.

Same with wine.

I'm presuming 40 is the big one as most can't afford expensive watches in previous other 'significant birthdays'...

Bejebus... I'm 37 next year... Fuck me. I guess I'll buy then. Lots of them then sell to all the 80s babies! Mwhahaha
