Just in case you do decide on a new set of 'cheap' wheels - look at campagnolo sciroccos before you buy a set of aksiums - I was extremely impressed with the weight and rigidity of mine, since they are a slightly deeper than usual alloy wheel and 35mm, I ran mine all autumn and winter and they still run silky smooth as if they're new!

The spokes really put me off those wheels to be honest. I prefer more traditionally lacing.
I've realised that I actually have a front silver aksium and a rear aksium on my rat build back home. I'll probably steal the aksium and marker the ksyrium black to make it match a bit better. Sorted! without spending a penny
Actually been discussing this with a friend today and we came to the same conclusion. I'm really shit at setting up gearing stuff so I think I'm going to take it to a bike shop and have them set it up properly and then go from there.
If I do want to change things up, first thing would be the wheels.
