  • I did a 1:02 on E1/25b (bit bumpy, 71m of climbing, not a fast course) at 96rpm, 85". Felt like I could have geared a little higher.

Racing the E2/25 on Saturday (apparently a fast course). I mistakenly changed my gearing to 97". Should I stick with it and try Big Gear Theory a la @xavierdisley, or should I put on 90" like I actually meant to?

I know the correct response is do what's right for you, but this is only my second 25 and third ever TT so I don't know what's right for me yet.

  • No idea about gearing. But wind looks a good direction and speed.
Will be a light head wind to the turn and tail back.
Low pressure too and slightly stormy conditions.

    Will be fast I bet.

Is it morning or afternoon? Will be a bit cold in the morning, but better conditions as day goes on.

I reckon 5 min faster than the E1/25b. So gear for something like a 56min time.

  • Excellent, thanks for the reply! Afternoon, 2pm I think.

93rpm @ 97" for a time for 56:00. Think I might just stick with the bigger gear then. If it stops drizzling I might even get to take it out for a spin.

  • Its the afternoon.

    I shall be marshalling .

Pointing you back to the start at the turnaround roundabout . All 150 of you.

  • You were bang on the money! 97", 43.something kph for a 56:03. I felt peculiar after.

The E2/25 is well fast, never really got used to riding on what looks like a motorway but I completely emptied the tank so feel good about it.

    I imagine @hippy smashed it.
