is it just that you have cut the forks too short on your bikes?
don't sell just yet, wait until you have the fit done

The 56/54 debate is a pain. I'm not going to give any suggestions, but how tall are you//inside leg// ape index?
Also, I'd quite like a cannondale crankset and spiderring, maybe go power free on race bike, as it seems a little pointless.

Dude just wait until the fit, it's easy to replicate the position of your Trek on the Cannondale.
If you don't mind a zero degrees stem that is.

@dancing james @eyebrows I'm just going back to basics for a little bit - I have a bad habit of buying and building out of impulse. I think I like the building of bikes just as much as riding.
Both CAAD's are great bikes, I've loved riding the Disc - It's brilliant, and the few times I've taken the other out it's been great on the track.I've been getting a lot of heat from the mrs recently to thin out the bikes and we're both starting to be a little more conscientious about unnecessary spending in order to put some money away for a house. Hence the cull. The sizing is just part reasoning and easier to explain publicly than an essay!
And, I only took a few mm of steerer off the 56 and the 54 still has about 30mm of spacers!

Worse, I am calling myself Chris Christie.

How tall are you? I'm about half an inch under 6' and ride a 54, but if I was any taller I would probably size up.

I'm 177 and ride a 54cm with a 130 stem, slammed. I also have +10cm ape index i'd be surprised if you can't get a 54cm to suit, depending on your proportions / flexibility
Which geo Emonda did you have? H1 or H2?
-
• #4844
yeah if the 56 fits surely you can just bosh a 15mm spacer and longer stem on the 54 to get the same position?
-
• #4845
I've got a 140mm stem on there with 15mm below I think.
Maybe I've actually made it too big for me......
-
• #4846
When i went through bike fitting i could basically run a 56cm with 110mm or 54cm with 130mm.
I preferred a 54cm with a long stem from a handling perspective
-
• #4847
This is also my preference - I ran my 56 Emonda with 130 stem and could have probably got away with a 58.

What is ape index?
-
• #4849
Ape index is the distance from fingertip to fingertip across your chest with your arms horizontal.
It's meant to be the same as your height (in theory), mine is +100mm.
I have an easton EC90 130mm 0deg stem you could try? Also have 130mm -6 3T ARXII, i'm in Parsons Green

Will be measuring ape index when I get home.
I've got a 130mm on the way, will see how I get on with that, the 0deg sounds like a good idea potentially aswell. Will stay in touch
Don't resist, embrace.
