• Anyone got any crank or spider based powermeter in 165mm they want rid of? No Stages. Needs to suit Shimano ext. or BB30.

  • Anyone know how to service bearings on the new G3 hubs (or more accurately the old SL+ hub that has G3 internals upgrade) ?

  • Thanks!

"We're going to hammer... which is never a good idea..."

Ok, that's the step I figured on but didn't want to do in case I was wrong.

I pulled mine down (what I could) last night and greased some bits and it's a lot quieter but still loads of play in the bearings. Rims are on the way out too so I think I'm just going run it until destruction, pull it down, sending hub to Paligap.

On the other hand, I could try that method and still send the hub to Paligap when the rims wear out. Hmm..

  • Is it possible to swap the internals from one powertap (a working 20 hole track powertap) to another (32 hole powetap with knackered internals)?

  • Well yes, that's how they fix them if the units fail. But is it possible for you to do it and not end up with 2 broken units - I have no idea.

  • My P2M in winging its way back to me!

My DHL link showed it stuck in German customs for weeks. Was starting to get stressed. Turns out its been at P2M getting fixed all the time, and is already on its way back.

  • A friend is researching about the 4iii Precision, DCRainMaker gives it a great review... Anyone here is using it or has any experience with it? Thanks!

PS: He doesn't want a crank based pm since he loves his actual cranks, neither a pedal/hub pm, and likes this one over stages since it could be installed in both cranks in the future

  • My premium Training Peaks account has just expired and am unsure whether to renew or buy WKO4.

I'm in my second year of using power now and am keen to delve a bit deeper into the data. I've tried golden cheetah, but haven't found it very user friendly.

Anyone on here using it? Worth the extra cost over TP?

  • GC isn't hugely user friendly as you say, but it really is very good if you invest a bit of time learning it's idiosyncrasies. I've been very impressed and barely ever look at my training peaks anymore. I certainly won't be renewing my subscription.

  • Hmmm. I was hoping that throwing money at WKO would mean I could avoid having to go through the effort of having to learn GC. I'll give it another go this week.

  • A few people on here seem to have had to send P2Ms back for mending. Are there reliability issues?

I think they look the best option on the price price/accuracy/functionality matrix but will I have issues?

  • No. 2 of us have, and it's down to some erratic power spikes.
P2M fixed my very quickly, under warranty and had it back to me within 2 ish weeks.

@Smallfurry took longer to come back, but who knows what happened there.

    P2M are rock solid.

  • If thinking of getting WKO, just use GC.

I keep using Training Peaks as I know a 40% discount code (will share via pm to you).
I like TP as I just use it on my phone a lot. It's convenient for me.

  • @skinny
    @TTM

What are the basic benefits of WKO? I've seen TP are offering a deal on it (although that may have expired though). Am too lazy to start researching it

I use TP premium and have used GC briefly but found it a bit unweildy and complex. At the moment TP offers me basically everything i require but would be interested to know more?

  • In short WKO4 offers far more in terms of analytics.

You used to get more on Training Peaks, but they removed a lot of them, to push people into buying WKO4. Training Peaks are pretty naughty tbh.

There is a 14 day free trial of WKO4,http://home.trainingpeaks.com/products/wko4

I used the 14 day free trial, but I found the software to be a bit buggy and slow. I didn't think it was a product worth they money they charge. I think if you find GC complex, WKO4 would be the same, because of the range of features it offers.
I don't think TP online is worth what they charge (even with the 40%) but it's multi-platform access is convenient for me.

  • I recently got a P2M off @eyebrows, did a 20 min ftp test today which came out at just over 260, so about 250 with the 5% taken off.

I like the look of Trainer Road but I think you need Training Peaks with it too and I don't fancy paying for both.

  • Mainly postage.

I paid a gazzilion kroner to have it sent registered. Local Postoffice took an age to put it on a plane. Then it stopped at German customs and P2M had to collect it. They sent me an E-mail on the day they were to collect it. My issue being that the tracking status remained 'at customs center'. So I assumed they hadnt, and the Whole easter period started. Checked after easter and it appeared to still be in customs.

In fact what had happened is that P2M had picked it up the moment they recieved Notification, sorted it in a matter of days, and posted it back (I have tracking number, and its Close).

I could have left it as was. It was working fine. Once every 5 rides or so. I'd get a super Sharp Power spike. Training peaks removes these, and they are too short to notice in ride. So if youre a simplistic user like me its a non issue. But I wanted my Powermeter to be as Perfect as possible. So i sent it in. I've never heard of anyone other than Skinny With this issue, and P2M seemed a bit surprised by it. Apparantely they just changed few parameters.

  • Ha.

UPS showing my P2M on its way here.
DHL have it stuck, uncollected in German customs still.

Wonder if I can pretend DHL lost it.......

  • You don't 'need' training peaks.

  • I use WKO3 because who wants to send all their data up to some 3rd party these days? #brodouevensnowden WKO4 doesn't sound like it provides anything of use to me so not bothered upgrading. Can you still buy WKO3?

  • This^

I like it a lot. Seems to appeal to my Level of user (relatively basic) perfectly. But when the last annual Subscription went out of my account I was a little shocked. I'm not sure the prce represents the content. Even if its more than enough content for me.

  • I'm on mac and don't have a Windows dual boot thingy. I'm going to give GC a chance to see if it grows on me and will wait to see if I miss TP before renewing.

  • I find TP and WKO much easier to use and clearer than GC but that might simply be because I've had more experience with it. I only use GC on travel machines and for the odd aero test.

  • Based on the 14 day trial of WKO4, I found the programme much more intuitive than GC. I find myself having to constantly Google help docs with GC to find fairly simple things, whereas with WKO things were where I'd expect them to be. But, £££'s vs free.
