I'd go Seiko as well. You won't be able to beat it for price / quality. But if you like the military look the Seiko 5 are probably a better range.

Seiko or push the budget a bit and get something more interesting secondhand. Or, get a Swatch and save up for something special.

AIUI - PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is the method of applying the coating.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) is just one of the coatings that can be applied by PVD, and is generally acknowledged to be the hardest available.

Can this be done after market? (I'm certain it can)
