Frameset has apparently arrived at TBW.
Did you go for the 4S disc, in the end?

I enjoyed reading that - I'm none the wiser what kit I want for TCR but mighty impressed that you are garden-testing the options!

An old friend that raced the http://www.ironbike.it/en/ years ago (you got to sleep in a tent between stages), slept for months before the race on his sleeping bag/mat next to his bed... get all the possible recovery is key on the long term.

Yep, the boring fugly silver one that looks like every commuter bike in London.

I don't fuck about Frank. Bikez is serious bidniz.
I'll test again when (I've actually got some sleep!) I've got a better setup to try. Maybe PhD outer that skinny suggested with better bag and/or down jacket, all on yoga mat.

Nope. It has been started though.
Dyno hub has arrived in Spain.
I will likely pull the P2M off my Kinesis (it has Powertap G3 on it now and will get a set of DA7800 cranks I have spare) on Sunday and give it to @scherrit next Wednesday.
I need to make a decision on rim choice (http://www.lfgss.com/comments/12893075/) and handlebars. I want shallow drop, recessed cables and I'm debating on aero tops or not. They'll make the bike more comfy when it has no aerobars but make fitting lights and any other gadgets a pain with limited 'round' bar real estate.
Oh, need to pick a rear 32h CenterLock disc hub.

I've got the Controltech Formidable with flat/ergo tops and my solution for mounting lights/gadgets in an non-round handlebar section was just to get a RaceWare Garmin/Gopro Mount with an GoPro to Exposure adapter (it has a Di2 junction holder, but won't use it yet)
So I can have my 810 on top with plenty room for the usb cable, and underneath the Exposure Axis (that normally would sit on my helmet) when I'm not using the dynamo wheel & lights
But normally I'll have the dynamo with the Supernova Triple light mounted in the underneath GoPro bracket with a little adapter, so all the dynamo cables will be closer, and it's easier for my to change the light angle (like this guys did) I'll post pictures when it's finally finished.
32h CenterLock disc hub... DTSwiss has many options but not cheap at all

I wont really know how it all goes together with aerobars and dynamos and stuff until we try fitting it all together. Sticking with round bars is most likely as it simplifies stuff a bit. I like that guy's setup of the light - I have a front brake hole though so will probably use that for my light - is there any reason to set it up higher?
Never used DT hubs, usually Shimano, the odd CK, and a lot of Powertaps.
I like the sound of "The Ratchet System driver mechanism is extremely durable, reliable and can be serviced without special tools in minutes, thanks to its simple press fit assembly." though I have no idea what they are talking about :) Looks like they don't use pawls, they use some ratchet and spring setup?
I like their convertible axle ends so I can use with thruax or normal QR.
Looks like my combo of 32h, 135mm, QR, CenterLock, J-bend spokes isn't that commonly available.

Pro-Lite has a rear wheel with 32h, 135mm, QR (thru axle convertible), Centerlock, J-bend spokes, hand built
http://www.pro-lite.net/road-wheels/revo-a21w
Only problem? They sell it as a wheelset, no rear-wheel-only option. Mine is the 6 Bolt version, really happy with quality and weight 0,892 kg (1,650kg both wheels) But as my bike will do some normal rides where dynamo isn't needed... still great to have a normal wheel with disc brakes around. (Be aware that the model that you can find at wiggle is the 6 Bolt Version!)
I liked the Supernova setup underneath the garmin mount, to be able to reach the light easier to adjust the angle a bit (the beam is round and could blind oncoming traffic.. not worried about cars, but cyclists).
I think that the lower the light the better, because it will cast greater shadows, but with a round beam it shouldn't matter that much compared to "road beams" that don't light "above the horizont", and if I don't run mudguards, the water/mud will have to travel a bit further to cover the light cristal

Also, if you finally choose the Apidura Saddle Pack I just tried a Medium size for 160km without issues, just an advice: rotate the seat clamp so the bolt is facing the stem, and it will rest on it without moving
Since you're not gonna use a framebag (mine will come in less than a month, 4cm wide so it won't rub the legs), maybe you'll need the Big size with some custom bags on the handlebars between aerobars and shifters, like the ones used by Carlos Mazon:

My frame has arrived as well. Sorting visa and flights out tonight.

Thanks. I'm getting my wheels built up though so no wheelsets.
I like the idea of the brake-hole mount because it leaves more room on the bars for one of my twelve Garmin backups...

I've got a Revelate Viscacha already (https://www.revelatedesigns.com/index.cfm/store.catalog/seat-bags/Viscacha) that seems to work pretty well.
Other luggage choices will depend on what else I need to carry.

Bet you say that to all the Planet Xs...

Brake-hole (sounds like insult) good for dynamo light mounting too
-
• #594
?
That's what I meant. I plan to fit my light to the brake hole not the bars.

Me being dense. Bike is being built next week :) Need to choose bars- thinking pedestal type aero, any suggestions?
-
• #596
pedestal type aero
I don't know what that means?
My bike will probably have Profile or Zipp clip-on bars. Which type will depend on what I need to try and replicate my TT position on the road bike.
-
• #597
Its significantly raised rests and aero bars above handlebars (apparently)
-
• #598
I'm (Scherrit is actually) taking my road position and then trying to shoe-horn in my TT position using clip-ons, duct tape, a dremel and some magic beans.
