In. Looking forward to this.

Welcome on board.

I'm in, You should use the hill! its not that steep is it?
-
• #56
The full hill would be a buzzkill in a fixed crit, it'd mess up gearing choices for the rest of the lap.

• #57
Would reveal the fatties...

+1 on the hill
-
• #59
The hill would ruin the race imo. They don't use it in most road crits out there. It stretches out the pack to much and will create a less intense race. Plus make it harder for spectators to see all of the course.
I am fat btw -

Also fat, fuck that hill.

Hog Hill isn't long, but it does kick up quite steeply and that could be a bit shit at the end of a fixed crit. There is a finish line painted on the track just before the hill ramps up.
Think you're the first DRKer signed up. Got the DCC guys all signed up already.

I've not seen your entry yet! ;)

• #65
I'm fat as well at the moment!

Keep it on the lower circuit but included the ramp up to the bottom of the hill and then make a right and you'll still have enough of a climb to make it interesting.

Wicked, there should be a nice little Bristol presence then! I need to remember how to ride bikes without gears now.
For what its worth I still think the hill would be a good feature, It would make the race a bit different and add to the challenge of racing a track bike outside the Velodrome. if we wanted to do it the easy and fast way then we would be riding road bikes wouldn't we. I am only saying this because I am thin.

I've not seen the hill but I think it's could be good. Looking forward to this! Good effort for organising it guys and gals!

It's a big ring hill but might get a touch spinny on the descent...

Really tempted to give this a go, but having never ridden a crit of any sorts or brake less think it might be a touch on the silly side. Also not sure about being able to keep up with the pack. Any know what the pace is likely to be like?

44 kmh

Get yourself to your local velodrome and do a taster session to see what you think about riding brakeless and in a group.
This event is a good introduction into fixed crit riding but it would be beneficial for all concerned to have some experience of riding track or brakeless in fast groups.

Is anyone available to accomodate some of our European friends for the race weekend? I've had a couple of enquiries from Germany and possibly The Netherlands too. It'd be great if there were some kind folk out there with a bit of spare space.
Thanks

Hey I really wanna do the race, but I'm only 16. I would have full parental consent (encouragement, really). I'm extremely comfortable riding breakless at high speeds. Would this be a huge problem, or could i still do it. I think I've got mates also coming down from notts for the race.

Unfortunately our insurance policy doesn't cover under 18s and would mean that the organisers and volunteers would need DBS checks. So, this time, we can't allow it.
This is our first crit though, not our only one. There'll be more in the future.
Awesome. Yeah, we'll be asking for helpers/marshals soon. We'll need a few people to help out on the day.
