  • All great films... Love him...

  • Got our film More or Less Cracked listed on IMDB.
    http://m.imdb.com/title/tt5542264/
Will be screening this soon in london. Will post event on here

  • The German Doctor (aka Wakolda 2013) is last chance on iPlayer this evening. Definitely worth a watch. Spanish/German with subs.

  • Finally got around to watching short film Bus 44, based on a true story.

  • The one I love

Wasn't what I was expecting from the Netflix synopsis, someone else watch it and let me know your thoughts, don't read about it before you watch though, go in cold.

  • Sightseers is a terrific film.

I didn't completely love A Field In England but there are some really awesome moments in it.

    Looking forward to High Rise.

  • Hail, Caesar! OK, a bit short on laughs, couple of decent set pieces, Coen brothers by numbers 6.5/10

Saw it last night. Short on out-right guffaws, but was smiling all the way through it.
The homage's to 50's Hollywood are really well done, showing equal amounts of humour and love for the material.
For instance, Tatum's increasingly gay sailor dance routine is both funny and amazingly choreographed at the same time.
Some people have complained that the film is nothing more than a series of sketches, but I thought Brolin's Mannix storyline held the film together well.

I'm a fan of 50's Hollywood, so probably went in with a certain amount of good will and enjoyed spotting some of the obvious and not-so obvious homages.
Companion piece to the Hudsucker Proxy in some respects.

  • dance routine was definite highlight

It felt a little stilted to me, wasn't too convinced by Brolin's character - yeah kinda Hudsucker x A simple man

  • Mannix

    As in the TV series?

I always thought that was terrible and cheap.

  • No, he just killed the replicant version.

  • Dans La Maison (2012) is on iPlayer!

  • I watched Creed the other day. Predictably ridiculous, ridiculously predictable, very watchable (if you have any affection for the old films).

    Deadpool was a solid 7/10.

  • Sausage Party looks like silly fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7fP9q_LyDc

Yes it will be stupid but I still think it'll be a good watch.

  • needs moar lemons.

  • Spectre, 5/10

Confirmation that they've been released in order of goodness, Quantum of Sport needs reappraising, a better film than the critics would have you believe at the time and much more Bondy than the last two.

  • Well eff me sideways High Rise was psychedelic as anything

  • But was it good?

  • Yeah! Enjoyable, 70's look was bang on, attention to detail. Reminded me of Performance in a way. Lots of Kubrik and Roeg isms

  • Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was pure lolz.

  • DAMMIT I knew there was something I wanted to do this evening....!

  • Just watched High Rise and was handed a free copy of the book on the way in, nice touch!

I thought the film was excellent, the futuristic 70s styling was great and the whole thing was madder than a box of frogs. 3 thumbs up, would recommend.

  • You got a free copy of the book?! Damn, I'm jealous. I paid over £8 for a regular seat in my regular home town, and no free book.

Quite happy with it, didn't think it was exactly the book, but it really felt in the spirit. Didn't like how some of the better parts of the book were skipped over in lieu of others, but in general I left quite satisfied.

Think there was a very German New Wave sounding song played at one point, but I can't find a soundtrack listing to work out what it was.

  • Tangerine Dream?
