• Okonomoyaki in Hiroshima. Obviously.
  
• Stay in a ryoken in Hakone or temple in Koya San for traditional food, (freshly cooked tofu in the latter)
  
• Naoshima if you can get there is amazing.

Tokyo, I've been a couple of times and everything I ate was just great. Their fast food is on another level.
Stand out memory is Maisen. I didn't luckily have to queue but it was SOOO good.
At the end, when you're stuffed, they bring out a scoop of gelato. The one I had was "summer mandarin" - I was like, oh i can't fit more in but had a taste and !!!mind blown!!!.

oof we've been there and it was very good indeed. very spenny tho, not that that's an issue, just wondering if it's worth it knowing we're off the booze for the time being... a steak of that quality washed down with a diet coke seems a bit... wasteful. i clearly haven't thought this through.

Many meats consumed today... BBQ Beef and pork ribs in the smoker, Greek style lamb flaps, piri-piri chicken, grilled octopus... So much food, round two tomorrow on the Sunshine Coast... #straya
