Slightly different than advertised but I reckon better. The clamp is hinged.

• #74929
The ones I got are identical except for the branding

• #74930
Even down to the groove pattern

Fecking photo won't upload but the ones I bought look exactly like the link you posted except they say velochampion

Fair enough, good to know! The tuffluv ones have different colours too, for tarts who want to match stuff...

Who can tell me about activism/point me in the direction of somewhere to read? Raging about all the NHS stuff coming through today and feeling pretty useless. Been to rallys and vote etc but I'd like to do more. Does that take me to canvassing?
It was fairly disgusting how the Tory backbenchers talked out yesterday, so not allowing time for Caroline Lucas' NHS bill to be properly debated. Really quite anti democratic. You might try the NHA party http://nhap.org

Ohh, hinged is way better. I was put off plastic by having one snap when moving between bikes

I thought I knew the answer to this, but just to be sure can someone clarify what defines an inline seat post please? Conversely what exactly is a layback post? Thanks muchly...
-
• #74937
what defines an inline seat post
The mid points of the saddle rail clamps are coplanar (±a few mm) with the axis of the shaft.
what exactly is a layback post?
One with the mid points of the saddle rail clamps far enough aft of the shaft axis to make it worth noting, maybe as little as 5mm but commonly 15-25mm, although more is not unheard of.

Thanks for all the bike shop suggestions everyone. I'll start checking them out soon!

Perfect, thanks for clarifying...

I decided to put some 2010 11 speed carbon Athena UT cranks onto my Look KG241 to upgrade the 10 speed Veloce PT cranks. I retained the Veloce chainrings. Upon installation, the inner chainring was fouling on the chainstay so the BB was spaced out using a washer on driveside. Now the cranks won't tighten properly and come loose. What's a guy to do?
-
• #74941
You've changed the cups? UT and PT use different ones.
You can't space the cups in the same way as with a square taper BB: the UT axle is a fixed length and there is no scope for shifting it to one side or the other.
-
• #74942
Yes, changed cups for Super Record UT and new bearings too.
-
• #74943
Super Record
That's your problem!
Super Record cups are only compatible with SR cranks.
-
• #74944
I had my suspicions when I purchased them but shop insisted OK. What's the difference?
-
• #74945
Super Record cups are only compatible with SR cranks.
Not strictly true, the Super Record UT cups have the same dimensions as the others, they just don't have the seals because CULT bearings don't need them.

Thanks all for your help earlier in the thread.
I guess for anyone else searching for the same info: Raleigh Omega Tru Build front hub bearings measured 10 x 26 x 8mm (6000 2RS)
-
• #74947
I knew they lacked seals, but when I read the above made the assumption that they were narrower too.
-
• #74948
I stand corrected: apologies.
Then I'm struggling to think of anything other than "user error": UT is pretty straightforward and without much in the way of adjustment.
C-clip in the driveside cup?
-
• #74949
Of course not, all good information! Will check c-clip but think is all present an correct.

Where can I find very narrow straight bars with soft ends and small brake levers for an 7 year old?
I bought him a Hoy Meadowbank 24 as he doesn't get on with gears, but it has drops I think straight bars may be better. I've no idea what parts name or brand to google on :)
Edit: 31.8 ahead fitting.
These arrived and feel pretty sturdy for the price
