  • Non-Alc? I threw up in my mouth a little... :P

Wait, are you upset I didn't get a Datum or upset about my colour choice?

  • Flat mount and Post Mount make no difference when choosing a disc brake rotor. Just how the caliper is attached to the frame/fork (and where the pads engage the disc). You need the correct adapter for 140mm or 160mm.

If you're gonna get Shimano Hydro, the Shimano Freeza Rotors should be awesome (but your hubs must be centerlock!!)

The only rotors similar to the Shimano Freeza that I've found are the Reverse Aircon

  • I'll get the Shimano rotors but I haven't got wheels yet. Can I get a CentreLock compatible dynamo hub?

Where's the best value place for getting the rest of the Di2 kit?

  • Just the color ;), I hated Kinesis for months because they didn't replace the "Steel Silver" for a nice red like my old Convert2 (although I asked them many times).

Good luck finding orange details to match the frame details :D

  • Me? Colour match? You've got the wrong guy.

This bike is purely utilitarian and should look as cheap and theft-pointless as possible. I might just cover it with electrical tape to protect/stealth it some more, not sure yet - after a few audaxes it'll probably look like shit anyway.

I did really like the blue Bowman but they never got back to me about the test ride so I didn't pursue it. The matte carbon Datum would've been better but thinking about it, I don't have to baby alu bikes at all compared to always being a bit sensitive with carbon frames when locking them up particularly.

  • Yes you can get an SP PL-8 dynamo hub with centerlock, I think @CarlosBI can tell you more about it... he and Jesse used them in last year TransAM and came 1st and 2nd

  • Me? Colour match? You've got the wrong guy.

    DTM

  • Hi,
SP has a PL-8 model that costs half the SON centerlock version
I used SP dynamo PV-8 (for brakes rims) on TransAm (2nd) but Jesse Carlsson (1st) used also Shutter Precision SV-8 version (with less resistance 2,4W power output).

I also sell them, I’ll send you a private message with price and estimate delivery if you want

  • I can't help you with Di2/Hydro, but when I'm in doubt of what parts come in certain product... Bike-Components have the best photos always... they take everything out of the box and give you the best info

    https://www.bike-components.de/de/Shimano/BR-RS805-Di2-ST-R785-v-h-Set-Scheibenbremse-Modell-2016-p44693/

Although they are based in Germany, some prices are good.

  • Deep Tan Marks
    Decidedly Tasty Man
    Datum Tantrum Mwuahahahahaa

  • Yeah, cheers for that.

  • Mantel were the best priced for my RS685 hydro/mechanical shifters and (non-flatmount) calipers, but that was a black friday thing. Very quick delivery too!

  • @hippy I was looking at the rooster, and I think it's not updated...

    http://transambikerace.com/roster/

Because a local friend still appears listed (and he isn't going) and also your name doesn't appear :D

  • Essentially, I'm still arguing about it with work.

  • What BB/cranks are you using on yours?

  • I've got the Power2Max Type S FSA Gossamer 110BCD 175mm

I should have picked a better BB (ceramic maybe), but ended up with the FSA recommended model, just to avoid any mess BSA68 FSA MEGAEXO BB-6000 BSA Just remember BB is Threaded BSA BB 68mm

Also Doval 52/36 Chainrings (16% ovality) but I'm sure you'll have an strict opinion about non-circular chainrings :D. I got them just because @CarlosBI scored #2 position on last TransAm with them, so at least they shouldn't give me any injuries :).... and for less than half the cost of Rotor/Osymetrics I couldn't resist to give them a try. Pedaling out of the saddle is not for me.

  • @hippy so what's the latest? 9 days with no update. Having withdrawal symptons here.

  • Frameset has apparently arrived at TBW.

I have a stack of Di2 parts sitting on my table at home.

TBW are in town tonight so I will hand over Di2 parts.

I have two cranksets that I was going to use but neither are Compact and I think Compact makes more sense for ultra racing so I may yet still buy another set of cranks or perhaps I could get away with a 52/37 combo on Standard Double? I've got a 32T cassette to test out with Standard Double cranks anyway but I can probably find a cheap Compact crankset easily enough.

I need to lock down a dynamo so I can get TBW onto the wheel build(s).

I broke my PX on Sunday so that needs new hanger and I hope it still works. Really tempted to fuck off my other bikes. It's nice having spares but it's tiring keeping up with all the varieties of wheels, groupsets, 10/11spd etc...

  • Go compact. You'll appreciate the 34. Compact is big enough for anyones needs. Unless you ride around at 50rpm.

Get a SON, they're the best.

  • Get a SON, they're the best.

  • I sometimes climb at 50rpm so I'm not too bothered about gearing, just seems pointless to carry around more metal than I'll use but I already have these two cranksets so why not?
Actually, I just had a thought - I don't have a powermeter for this bike so I'm going to have to rip the P2M off the old Kinesis anyway and I think that it's 110bcd.

I'm saving money (and weight) and using an SP. Worked for Jesse.

  • 50rpm would break my knees. And moral.
