  • So… Alsal says my Tissot could be made a manual (£150), but auto parts cannot be sourced. A manual isn’t really viable for my other half.

The seller has said that I shouldn’t spend more money on it and will refund the money. I’m obviously down on the P&P both ways, but it’s probably the right choice.

The fucker is I now need to source a replacement :( So anyone got any tips on where to go?

    Wish list:

    • Sub£300 (including servicing cost if needed)

    • Functioning

    • “vintage” looks (hate that adjective!)

    • Automatic (ideally something vanilla, not niche… although a quartz with the right look might be more sensible)

    • Leather strap

    • 30 – 35mm

    • Ideally stainless, rather than chrome plated

Had a look on poshtime.com and there are lots of things close, but only the manual winds fit the bill.

  • An old Omega? I paid about £250 for this and that seems to be about the average price.

  • Word. Just picked one up myself from Vintage Watch Mart for around the same. Not the most sensitive refacing but nicer than most sub £300 automatics:

  • Sorry I probably didn't phrase my question properly.

Where would I buy a watch like that from and be comfortable that it's not a lemon.

I'll head back to eBay, but there is obviously a lot tat.

@BleakReference Cheers I'll check out Vintage Watch Mart
