I agree but recommend Tiagra as ten speed are a good all-round gears.

I have build up a bike with Tiagra and decent cableset, it felt so much better than the old 10spd 105.

Agreed - will be watching the Sora price (vs Tiagra) with interest. Ideally I'd be cheap and just replace the old style Sora shifters on my partner's bike with the new ones, but I suspect the cable pull will be different meaning I can't, which makes a full upgrade to new Tiagra more appealing.

You can't replace the old Sora as you correctly assumed that the cable pull is different.

I'm gonna look into it if it's the same throughout the range.
