• That helps, thanks. I'll go through some other stuff that confused us in case that's helpful when you look at the instructions.

    • It says there are four types of cards but only has pictures of three cards underneath: presumably actions and reactions are distinct types indicated by just one picture.
    • We couldn't decide whether to keep the riders in the draw deck. I thought they should stay in, but it didn't make sense to people that riders should be able to join the race halfway through (it seemed unrealistic). Re-reading the rules now it looks like riders can be added and discarded during play.
    • Measuring the size of the gap using draw cards is mind-bending. Once the last draw card is taken, there is no gap. Does this mean there is no break? In which case, when the final kilometre is initiated there can never be a break. In which case why bother creating a break in the first place?
    • Is the sprint the same as the final kilometre? If not, what's the difference?
    • The game is for 2-4 players but the illustration only shows a three player game, which also confused us.
    • 'Whoever last bought a bike goes first' but 'Play starts with the player to the left of the dealer'. Is the player to the left of the dealer the one who last bought a bike? Is the dealer then always the person who is to the right of the person who bought a bike last?

I work next door to LMNH so if you are visiting I would love to have a game with you some time so I can learn it properly and teach my colleagues.

  • Cheers man, these are all good points. I'm filming the video tomorrow. But to answer these quickly:

It says there are four types of cards but only has pictures of three cards underneath: presumably actions and reactions are distinct types indicated by just one picture

Will be fixed in the new rules, that is confusing.

We couldn't decide whether to keep the riders in the draw deck. I thought they should stay in, but it didn't make sense to people that riders should be able to join the race halfway through (it seemed unrealistic). Re-reading the rules now it looks like riders can be added and discarded during play.

Think of it as although you only have five riders in play, it's a snapshot of the peloton. So if you get a new rider, it adding from your larger team.

Is the sprint the same as the final kilometre? If not, what's the difference?

The final kilometre is when the last card is drawn (signifying the end of the race), the current player (we'll call Player 1) finished their turn, then each other player gets one more turn to try an change the outcome (remembering the road surface can't be changed). When play returns to Player 1, then The Sprint starts. The Sprint is then the calculation of which player wins by having the highest ability for the current road type, plus any bonuses.

The game is for 2-4 players but the illustration only shows a three player game, which also confused us.

Yup, that could be clearer. You could all play in a long line if you wanted to.

'Whoever last bought a bike goes first' but 'Play starts with the player to the left of the dealer'. Is the player to the left of the dealer the one who last bought a bike? Is the dealer then always the person who is to the right of the person who bought a bike last?

Again, that's confusing, we'll clear that up in the next print run. Anyone can deal, doesn't make any difference, and we thought "Whoever last bought a bike goes first" was a cool and simple way of deciding, though it's not that important.

Maybe Wednesday or Thursday I could pop over for a quick game?
