HDMI is specified by performance rather than a specific distance IIRC, so if you could get a 5 mile HDMI cable that met the specs it would be compliant. 15 metres seems about the max in real life though.
Then again, I have no HDMI devices so I'm speaking from a position of mostly ignorance and no experience.

HDMI doesn't really have standards for distance, as far as I know, but you're looking up to 15 meters for high speed HDMI cables.
You may get noise and attenuation if you are using long unshielded twisted pair cables, I guess.
