  • How do you find the handling with the rack? I borrowed one from a friend for a couple of days but found it very twitchy when weighted down

  • I didn't mind it with drops but the swept back bars made a big improvement to the handling with the rack.

With weight on I find I have to counter steer quite a bit which is a bit different i suppose but comes naturally from motorbikes and mtb

  • Buying 26" touring forks. What's the benefit of a Thorn fork over a Surly LHT fork for the extra expense?

  • Hey guys, I just bought this ribble track frame - does anyone have any idea of its age? I'm going to refurbish the frame and make new decals. Any parts suggestions for a nice build?

  • those ends do look a bit doe eyed.. i.e. weird angle. they original?

tbf, ild just get rid of the stickers and ride as is. not wanting to be offensive, but a ribble is not that special and it looks in quite good nick so im not seeing anything warranting a refurbishment.

  • Thanks bud, I believe the frame is original - but I've only ever seen maybe 2 other steel ribble track frames online.

I think it will look nice repainted myself, possibly in a nicer colour.

  • Maybe pink / white fade? I think ribble used fades a lot on their road frames

  • If you can do the fade - please, be my guest! ;)

  • Cross check got a bit of an update, swapped to Salsa Cowbell 3s from Deda RHM 02s, Parallel push LX v brakes with tektro levers from CR720 cantis, a turbo for commuting and less stealability than my cambium, and a normal non-usb charging dynamo light as the previous USB one is going on my new Hartley Cycles. Oh and inner tube bar tape cause it's grippy as hell and free.

Next step is fatter tyres with a ghetto tubeless set up (should be okay on A319 rims?) thinking of 40c WTB nanos but haven't decided yet. I'm enjoying the extra power of the V brakes over the cantis, but the lower amount of modulation takes a bit of getting used to.

  • Those are definitely original Campagnolo track ends. Lovely simple frame. And same goes for the track ends if you ask me.

  • Great spot Hulsroy, thanks for the information! Yes, I think the frame will be lovely, it is hard to tell when the seller only sent me pictures of it from a dark attic!

  • Had a ribble track same details and colour. Had a terry Dolan association.

Rear stays cracked and knowledgeable colleague said it was common on those frames.

  • Got a selle flite seatpost and the top has become unbonded from the carbon. Anyone have any idea where I can get some glue/expoxy for this in London today or a link for somewhere online?

Would it be a case of just coating the areas of contact with epoxy or would it also be ideal to apply pressure after around the area of contacts, for example jubilee clips?

Wouldsomething like this do the job - Link

  • Thanks for the information mate! Do you have any pictures of it when you had it? Interested to find out what the Terry Dolan association was.

  • No photos I'm afraid, he apparently built for ribble. But I'm not sure that's true as I've heard conflicting things.

  • Thanks for that. I will start a project thread on Monday when it arrives.

  • I've bonded a seat post head onto the tube with Araldite, too early to say whether it was a success as it has only been on my MTB for a little over a decade. As with any glue job, preparation is 90% of the task. My go-to general purpose 2-part epoxy adhesive is this

  • Thank you. Have ordered a syringe. What would you do for preparing? Obviously removing the old glue residue then a light sand and clean with some acetone like glueing a tub?

  • Up done

  • Obviously removing the old glue residue then a light sand and clean with some acetone like glueing a tub?

Sounds about right. My favourite clean-up solvent is isopropanol rather than acetone, just because it's safer (for your stuff; health and safety hazards are about the same) and does the job in most cases, but if you already have acetone at hand and know how to use it safely then go ahead.

  • My macho man, would love a nature boy instead but you know, poor.

For sale if anyone is interested

  • If you're wondering, it's an alfine tensioner
