Injury means I'm clearing some space at home.
Here's my semi completed Eroica Rourke project up for sale.
It's not complete and needs further work getting it running.
C/w...
Sugino 27.2 post/BLB fly seat/Nitto stem/risers with ergo grips.
It's fitted with a front brake and left lever, but no pads or cable.
Hand painted Grr coat! But cool no dents. It's nice light 531.
(Problem, stuck snapped bolt in bottle cage mount!!!
Can be taken out with correct procedure).52seat/53tt in size.
Kilburn - London (£sold/collected).
Price reflects condition, a frame that needs minor TLC.

Brother, has this sold? Is the rear spacing 110mm or 120mm?
-
• #15
I've called dibs on this already and chatted to Brother about collection times.
Sorry!

I had a rourke once that is not one!
-
• #17
My guess would a holdsworth still a decent frame but definitely not a rourke
-

Think you are mistaken. But thanks for input, really? Can you explain why it's a Holdsworth, what is the difference between the Rourke you mentioned owning and mine which you are saying is Holdsworth please? I'm not totally ruling that one out if you could entertain with the knowledge you have Sir?
I never saw its original paint or badges. Obviously had it been there and present I wouldn't have any doubts myself?

It's true Rourke certainly aten't the only builders to use the cosmetic 'wrapover' to make the stays look like one piece of tube, but holdsworth wrapovers weren't flattened like that I don't think, but rourke definitely do make them like that. So I'd say the wrapover looks right. Not that I'm a Rourke expertperson.
Frame does look seventies ish, from the guides, made for band-ons etc. When did Rourke start? I've not seen many Rourkes that are lugged but I'm pretty sure they do make em.
Easy way to find out is check the serials, if you can find anything.

Snowy it should be Gold with snakeskin-like black oversprays!
-
• #21
Looked for serials and looks like nada on there, a bit strange but the twerp that covered it with paint is blameable!

I had a Holdsworth and it was wrap round but it had a headtube badge and this does appear that it never was drilled for one, so if Rourke used diffrent means of applying branding? If that helps...hmm
-
• #23
Yes and it wasn't what you where looking for anyway.
-
• #24
Obviously without the branding when I brought it the frame came my way as a Rourke, I've never before owned a Rourke Eroica but not many people whould know "what" a 70's Rourke looks like, and if I'm wrong it's certainly not my fault, but I'm quite certain as going by what I've been informed it well could be, apparently it originated from someone that had several Rourke and wether this is horse shit or Gods honest truth is debatable. But I'm quite trusting and I'm hoping I've not been knocked. For all I know it could be a tarted up Create or Foffa, maybe?

Is this gold or coal?
We all fear if there's some "nutter" out there doing some deranged sort of alchemy with a dodgy paintbrush defacing beautiful vintage bikes.
