  • @TW @b&d (does that tag you?! ampersand in the name is confusing)
Do I need HDMI? Thinking if there's enough Cat6 then I could use something like this
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00YC3BWL2/
to piggy back HDMI over ethernet.

USB, meh. Will run phono and coax within rooms I think, but I think I'm more Sonos than a proper audiophile so likely I'll not need to run too much apart from data around the house...

Anything else I'm missing while the laminate is being replaced. Underfloor heating already on the list.

  • HDMI doesn't really have standards for distance, as far as I know, but you're looking up to 15 meters for high speed HDMI cables.

You may get noise and attenuation if you are using long unshielded twisted pair cables, I guess.

  • I've got a 22.8m HDMI cable which seems to work fine, but it has a thingy in the middle.

HDMI is specified by performance rather than a specific distance IIRC, so if you could get a 5 mile HDMI cable that met the specs it would be compliant. 15 metres seems about the max in real life though.

Then again, I have no HDMI devices so I'm speaking from a position of mostly ignorance and no experience.
