Oeff, that's hot. The (freshly painted) frame sitting on the stone ground hurts a little bit though.

I like the way the top tube wraps around the seat tube: not seen that before.

That is pretty standard Max lug tho...
-
• #555
Ah! Didn't know that.
Mine's only lugged at the head tube

It can be used in many different ways, but it looks lovely no matter how. I am not keen on the low seat stays of the Tornado though. There is no logic to it statically and makes rear brake cable routing look silly.

Thanks for those.
And now you mention it, that cable routing isn't very coherent.

Still own this? Or is this a recent shot. One of my fave (forum) bikes.

shot from a few months ago. I still own it but it doesn't have wheels of it's own atm.

Nice paint! No MAX fork?
-
• #563
No, the original fork was lost, replaced with a full carbon fork.

Just doing a random Ron Cooper search and this came up. Good job it's too big for me. Someone buy it!

MAX without matching forks is like a shoes with no laces.

MAX without matching forks is like a shoes with no laces.
While I really like the MAX fork-- and have them on several bicycles-- they are not light. Enve, Wound Up and Co forks are both significantly lighter and cheaper. These days steel and oversized alu frames with carbon forks is, I think, much more common than steel (much less MAX) forks-- even Merckx's "Heritage" Liege75 and Roubaix70 (both using TIG'd Zona tubes) come with composite forks.

I think the fork is one of the best aspects of MAX framesets (aesthetics wise):
I like their performance and don't mind the weight-- have a Max fork even on my alu track bicycle.

Are these Max forks? The rest of the frame I believe is Tange but I haven't heard of Tange making fork blades like these.
I apologise if this is the incorrect thread, seemed like I'd get the best answer here.

does look like MAX, if it's similar to this one aswell i think the DT could be MAX
-
• #573
quite interesting bb lug if the dt is max and st isn't. Those chainstays are quite beefy on that nakagawa also (might be max)
